Sorry about the late response.

I am in the same boat as you. I want to learn the basics behind many of the languages. At the very least learn about their strengths and weaknesses.

You should stay tuned, especially if you are interested in the development of web based services and software. A lot of new things are coming to thescripts.com shortly that will really help you out.

In response to your request, the best tip i can give you read and use the langauge to develop something. Lots of reading!

Just as KUB365 says, READ !!! Its what changes you from an end-loser (oops.. :)) end-user to a guru in whatever you choose to do in life .. Oh yeah, use what you learn or it will just slip away into the darkness ... Mars or Bust ....

by the way KUB365 .. sure would like to know what your idea is !

I would like a where to begin on setting up the profile with the

scripting needed on this forum ... its like I've forgot myself or at least coding on forums.. a little 101 for sigs would be cool

Docskate23 .. just keep plugging at it .. and when you get stuck .. just ask someone or take a break :)

Good luck guys

Hi, list. I'm into a psicological doubt that I would like to share with you (you'll know why later on this mail). I'm a programmer with 5 year of experience into Perl. I'm on that point where you resolve problems without thinking on HOW you'll do it with that language but only on the problem itself. Since Perl 6 started I've been following it. The conclusion I have is

I am an experienced ASp (classic) and VB developer. My organization will be moving to DOTNET. I need to get started figuring out the framework, C# and ASP.NET. (Yeah, yeah I am a little late.) The web and MS site is *awash* with info. Do you guys have a good starting web site or book or something that you can particularly recommend from the vantage of an experienced programmer, rather than a complete newbie? Thanks S

I've never had the need to work with XML, but I believe I now have an appropriate application. I have time-series data in objects organized as a tree that I want an ASP.NET program to write out to web pages formatted as a matrix. It is not a simple matrix, since the number of row heading cells can vary, but the data cells must be aligned by date (so the heading cells will not be uniformly sized). example of typical rows: 3 heading...

I'm interested in learning C#. I'm an old C programmer (started with MS C ver 3), but haven't used it in quite awhile, spending most of my time in VB, Powerbuilder, PHP, Perl, etc., but not C++. 1. Where do I get the compiler (only available in Visual Studio)? 2. Is there a cheap or free, trial or learning version available? 3. Any recommendations for books (considering my experience)? Many thanks.

Hi ! I've looked all over (internet, books, etc.) and I haven't found a very good ressource to get started with wxPython (yes, I've been through their tutorial). What I would basically like to do for starters is to be able to define the main panel being displayed. For example : 1. wxFrame contains a wxPanel (call it mainPanel). 2. mainPanel contains another panel (childPanelA)

I am just getting started with Python, and I think I may be thinking about it wrong. I'd like to be able to work interactively with some code that I've got in a file. The only interpreted language I have much experience with is Tcl/Tk, and in that I would use "source file.tcl" in the console to load my source. Is there a similar command in python? I know I can run my file as a script, but since I'm just experimenting with how the language...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
