Trying to define a concept

1 New Member
Ok so I have an idea. I will warn you ahead of time, it concerns Myspace, so anyone with any proclivity to barf at the mention of MurdochSpace.. please contain yourselves.. lol

Anyway... One of Myspace's best features in my opinion, are the groups. Now when I say "best" I mean that's the feature I use the most communicate on an ongoing basis with various online communities. The problem is that Myspace groups are notoriously scripted with a million and one holes... these are well known.

So this means that any 13 yo kid with a mind to be retarded can destroy any group you invest any amount of time in cultivating those interests.

My idea is simple... develop a flash application that a person can log into online that will scan, ban, delete so moderators can regain some control. I think all the relevant data is readable. Each group has an ID in the url, each user has an ID, each thread has an ID, and each post has an ID.

Is it doable? And could it be done in a fashion that just reads retrieves text data to make it as fast as possible?

Hi, I have a code to open a file like this, int r = open("file1", O_RDONLY, 0); let's say the executable a.out is at <dir> and file1 is also at <dir>, then no problem. The problem is when my current directory is at <dir>/<sub_dir> and file1 is at the sub directory, but a.out is still at <dir>, then when I

I think I've finally found a tutorial that can get me started: http://www.zib.de/Visual/people/mueller/Course/Tutorial/tutorial.html and I've been lurking for awhile as well. What happened is, I've been playing with Qt in KDE on a Slackware 10.0 system, and following their cookbook exercises, and everything's working, and I have no clue what the code is doing, i.e.. how do I connect my brain to the ascii in the files to the stuff on...

Hi! I'm not very familiar to C, but I do know a little. No I'm trying to read someone elses program, and this line (and simular, less complex lines) realy confuses me. Can someone explain? I'm not new to the concept of pointers, so I think that I have a fair chance. :-) What is this line doing?!?: srcptr=(MY_PIXEL*)(source->imageData+(top-j)*source->widthStep)+(left-i);

Hello, A couple days ago my friend (OOP guy) shows me what OOP was all about in C++. This morning I figured I can do pretty much the same thing with C (by putting function pointers in structures and using Macros). I've gone pretty far but I'm running into problems because the function pointers within the structures need an extra argument (a pointer to that type of structure) so they know which data to operate on. Also, I have to...

The code below isn't compiling for me (error message: conflicting types for 'total' - pointing to the extern declaration). Why wouldn't this work, since the types are different, the extern declaration obviously refers to the 'long total' in total.c? Is my compiler wrong? total.c

Hello, I have something really awkward at work - fighting with CheckBoxList... How can I define CSS for ListItem in CheckBoxList programmatically. I add CheckBoxList's Items on the fly, something like dim li as ListItem li = new ListItem("title","value"); '' how to define here the CSS for List Item, not CheckBoxList?!?!?! myCheckBoxList.Items(x).add(li);

My problem is pretty straight forward and I conceptually understand what I'm doing wrong. I'm trying to populate a DDL that doesn't exist. I;m just not sure how to resolve it. I have a DataList that allows for record editing and deleting using the OnEditCommand and OnDeleteCommand methods. Easy enough. One of the fields in my datalist is a key to a record in another table. So when editing, instead of seeing a integer value for the user...

I am having trouble understanding the purposes of an interface, even though the concept of interfaces is around me all the time (user interface, for example). I'm just not understanding software interfaces. Like anything else, it appears Interfaces are by design something that requires documentation. I know this may be obvious, but if I have a class A and I say, well, class A implements IMyInterface. The fact that it implements...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
