Generate Graphs for Statistical Data

97 New Member
Hi there,

I am using a library called JpGraph to generate graphs for statistical data. But it only produces an image - so no mouse-over, no interaction etc, possible.

So, I am thinking about changing to Flash. But as I am not familiar with Flash, I need to use some existing software. I spent quite some time googling around, and found two, three packages, such as FusionCharts & amCharts (and the OpenSource, but limited "Open Flash Chart".

But especially the first one is relatively expensive. Can anybody recommend some other packages, which would include the possibility to generate bar, line and scatter plots, and if possible, in logarithmic scale too?

Thanks for any hints!

I am investigating Python for the sake of ultimately generating hydrographs (such as this: http://ahps.erh.noaa.gov/iln/ahps/RiverDat/gifs/prgo1.png) on-the-fly from a web server cluster. I have not used Python previously and do not yet know if Python is very useful for this or if I am wasting my time. Quite frankly, I am a little bewildered. Not only is there Python, but there are many extention modules which cloud up my view as to...

I need to create image files (eg bmp or jpeg) of xy scatter graphs (i.e., graphs in which markers denote individual points; the markers need to be small polygons of various sizes, shapes, colors, shadings, etc. and there are thousands on them on each graph). Have been using MS Excel, but its limitations are unbelievable (only whole number sizes, no way around a 56 color palette, only low quality jpeg files so that when I publish the...

Help. I am trying to create a web page in C# to display two rows of data with bar graphs (an image 1px). I get the max value of the row and use the following formula to size the height of the image, but the bar graphs are not sizing correctly. Can anyone provide me with a solution or any ideas. rowValue / maxRowValue * maxBarHeight

Hello all, I have some data in a postgresql table which I view through a web interface (the web interface is written in python -- using mod_python under apache 2.2). Now I would like to represent this data as graphs, bar charts, etc. I know about matplotlib, and it seemed like exactly what I was looking for. I tried importing it in my script, but it gave me some error about a home directory not being writable. I'm not sure I like the

Greetings Pythoners! I hope you'll indulge an ignorant outsider. I work at a financial software firm, and the tool I currently use for my research is R, a software environment for statistical computing and graphics. R is designed with matrix manipulation in mind, and it's very easy to do regression and time series modeling, and to plot the results and test hypotheses. The kinds of functionality we rely on the most are standard and...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
