How to Create a Multi-Select Listbox in Excel Worksheet

124 New Member
I am an Excel newbie, but have a good amount of MS Access experience, including VBA coding. I need to create a worksheet with a multi-select Listbox column, which stores the multiple values selected by the user from the Listbox to another column on the form in the same row, separated by commas. Each time I create the Active-x control on the sheet, handles just show up on the control instead of actually being able to use it. I'm not sure how to get around that. In Access, there is an "After_Upda te" event for combo boxes and listbox controls, but I am not clear how I would save the values to the sheet in Excel VBA after a user has chosen multiple items from the listbox. Any help is greatly appreciated.

BTW,

You must exit Designer mode, and the handles should go away. You should also be able to edit the control in Designer mode, to include adding Code etc., but you may already know this.

I have a simple multiselect listbox with a rowsorce of MemberID, MemberName, SendLetter. SendLetter is a Yes/No field. What is the code to set SendLetter to Yes when the user selects MemberName? I want to do this as the selections are being made not after-the-fact after all selections are made. Thanks! Sally

I am trying to write various items from a multiselect list box to an SQL statement to update a report, without success. SQL only appears to accept hard-coded data or control values from a form, not variable data. Any clues as to how I can write several items to an SQL statement from a multiselect listbox to update a report? Thanks in anticipation Cassie

I create an Excel worksheet in C# (should be similar in VB) Connection String: "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" + filename + ";" + "Extended Properties=Excel 8.0;"; Create string: "CREATE TABLE S1 (Dt date, St char(40), Cr currency)" Works fine, but the worksheet is named _S1 (UNDERSCORE!) and not S1.

I don't some Excel automation. I've created a program that opens and Excel template and inputs information to it. It runs great on my machine. When I build and deploy I have a user that keep getting the error message: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." Here is the code that generates the message: Dim xlApp As Excel.Application Dim xlBook As Excel.Workbook Dim xlSheet As Excel.Worksheet

Greetings This is one of those Access is not closing Excel problems. The first time through the code works fine. The second time there is a problem. After lots of combinations, I finally determined that if I take out the line that copies the temp array to cells in a worksheet, Access will close the Excel file. If the line is there, Excel remains open and blocks more runs of the same procedure. If I close Access, Excel gets closed. Looks like...

No problem with opening the spreadsheet or displaying the data, but I'm having problems with repeating the process. I want to create an Excel spreadsheet, add some data to it, and display the results in a webbrowser control. I want to be able to then later delete the old Excel spreadsheet, create a new one, add some new data,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
