db2advis

Hi,

In the help here
(http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infoce...6f%61%64%22%20)
is described that you can run the reset monitor command before running
db2advis with the -g option.
Can someone explain what the relation is between these monitor areas and the
dynamic sql package cache where the db2advis takes it input from. Can this
be a mistake in the docs and is "flush package cache" meant instead of
"reset monitor"?

Thanks,

To run db2advis properly, the system will snapshot some db info out
caches for the workload.
Using the reset option on your snapshot dommand:
db2 reser monitor all database <dbname>
db2advis .....
This resets the counters to zero base and makes it easier to understand
and genrate the ouput of advise on the dynamic cache.
db2 flush package cache may be a good idea if you are not running this
on a production system.
HTH, Pierre.
