You first need to stop all db2 services in the services of XP.
Then delete the sqllib directory from XP
You can also use the remove software section of the control panel.
Once done, what you need to install is the run time client with the
administration tols. It is known as the administration client.
You do not need connect product. That product provides connection to
DRDA servers like z/OS and/or AS/400.
Once Admin. client install, use the Cinfiguration Assistant to discover
and catalog the db's on the remote AIX server and you are then set.

I am trying to install connect v8.1 on a windows xp PC to monitor
databases on a AIX server. I tried unistalling and re-installing the
Connect software and I now get the following error message when trying
to re-install the connect software on the windows machine.
DB2 has been installed previously by a user that is not an
administrator of this computer. This installation will not be allowed
as only one installation of DB2 is allowed on the computer at one
time.
I am stuck don't know how to proceed thanks in advance for any help on
this.
