stress db2 database tool

i am looking for a tool which could simulate many transactions to the
database, thus stressing the database. Also I am looking for a
performance monitor tool for database. Please let me know if there are
any freely available tools.

I would go to the www.tpc.org site and look at the detail write-ups of the
benchmarks run by vendors. They should explain how they ran the transactions
through to database to simulate the load.

There are two main types of benchmarks:

TPC-D which is an OLTP application
TPC-H which is a data warehouse benchmark

I know that for TPC-H, IBM used the db2batch benchmark tool to submit the
queries and monitor the completion times. See the Command Reference guide
for details.

Correction: TPC-C is an OLTP application. TPC-D is an obsolete version of
TPC-H.

Hey.

I am searching for a way to stress a db2 as well.
At the moment we have an idea to capture a few days of transactions, put
them in a log, and replay that log in 500 client instances (custom
client). This is just a thought, not yet implemented, but maybe you can
implement the idea as well.

For the time being, perhaps
http://www.osdl.org/docs/ibm_26_stab...test_plan.html can help.
It describes some handy tools.
