Support for RedHat Enterprise v3

Now that RedHat has officially released Enterprise version 3, has
anyone heard when IBM will have support for this OS?

I am at the Tech Conference and we are being told that support is in
FP4 which is due in November.

from the DB2 side we will prereq DB2 V8.1.4 and you need JDK 1.4.1 (to be
able to run in the new thread model introduced in RHEL3). During the work
with RH we found certain items that are addressed in RHEL3 Update 1 which is
due in December.a notice should be ont he validation web site

the assume_kernel command? I know that it will not be a supported platform
by IBM, just wondering if it "might" work (off the record of course) for
non-production use for those who don't want to pay for RHEL3.

however. But looking over the RHEL3 "license", what you pay for is
support (up2date for Basic level). There are projects to generate
"free" iso images (from the source rpms that Red Hat gives away) if

are not identical to the commercial RH versions. For more infos on RHEL3 we
have now a website... RH is still working on releasing their errate as far
as I know...

sorry but your link to Whitebox linux would not qualify for a fully
supported validated platform. I understand the intentions from the group
there but this does nto help for production use of a database - I doubt that
RedHat will give you support if you use this way of getting their product
(and I would suggest to have this discussion with RedHat - this is nto the
group for it).

I never said it was supported, let alone "fully" or even by Red Hat!
However, as I *did* say, it *is* free and built from the *same* SRPMS
as the real RHEL3 (except for the "up2date" bits). Now stop putting
words in my mouth and then chastising me for it! It makes you look
all the more like an ignorant, unhelpful ass (especially when you
continue to top-post).
