Problem:
I need to get the value of auto-incremented field from just inserted
record
In Oracle this is INSERT .. RETURNING command.
In SQL Server there are @@IDENTITY, IDENT_CURRENT, SCOPE_IDENTITY
- @@IDENTITY returns the value from the very LAST insert on any table

pg_dump -U dbowner dbname -a -t table -f table-data.sql
two tables (e.g. table1, table2).
In the first table - the correct sequence was set as can

I Oracle one can have :
select to_char(a_id_seq.nextval,'0000') from dual
Which fetches a sequence value and pads it with zeros
on the left. When the sequence value is more than
4 digits '####' is returned.

I'm trying to find if there is any performance diference between
explicitly using a sequence in the insert statement to generate values
for a column and doing this in an insert trigger.
I noticed that th eaccess plan for the 2 situations is quite
different. For the case where the trigger is in place, the optimizer
applies 2 extra residual predicates.
Can anybody explain where the differences come from? Also, for real
life situations,...

I wonder if there is a sql command or another way to increase sequence value more than one without modify de increment value of the sequence.
I have to do that because in some problems i need to reserve 4000 ID and i don't want to do 4000 conections to BD .

entered. i want to delete the token after the mousecursor.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
