Hi,

In todays world we have TSAMP HADR monitoring scripts which monitoring scripts to monitor failures in HADR system. But we dont get email alerts when a failover occured or when a instance is down and some other cases.

questions :

What could be the best method to monitor these ?

Thanks,

Hi,

There is plethora of options avaiable for monitoring it with an SMS alert depending on how much your organisations can afford on the options out there.

First of all check in your scripts for providing/sending a mail to the user/group on a failure. Below are some of the options that can be used in your situation :

1) HPOV with DPSPI to send mail alerts in general and for database specific alerts
2) NAGIOS for Mail as well as SMS alert *

* Sometimes if failover is within seconds then the particula software won;t be able to capture the fail and send SMS alert. In such cases you can always browse through the logs and send alert based on log file monitoring through HPOV or manual scripting

Hello - I am in the process of testing out the new HADR feature of DB2 UDB V8.2 and I have some questions that I was hoping that someone could answer please. I have a HADR test set-up with two DB2 instances on the same machine with the sample database on each set up as an HADR pair in near-synch mode. I have noticed that when I perform any logged operation on the primary (such as a mass INSERT SQL) that there is a substantial lag in

Hello, We currently are running a CRM application that uses DB/2 7.2 for the data repository. We will be upgrading to 8.2 later this year....maybe....time and resources permitting. The database is currently being hosted with a managed service provider (MSP) at a remote datacenter. This service provider is supposed to be monitoring the health and performance of the database as well as performing proactive maintenance on a regularly...

Anyone running HADR using VERITAS Cluster Server (VCS)? Our production outsourcing company has recommended to use VCS instead of Tivoli System Automation (TSA) for heartbeat monitoring on Linux. Another question. We assume that automatic client reroute can be used with Type 4 drivers for J2EE, and that we the type 4 driver version that is distributed with DB2 Release 8.2. Is that correct? What is the typical delay that people are...

Hi, i'd like to know how to implement an automatic failover with HADR. I've configured 2 databases, one primary and the other standby. Everything works ok (replciation and takeover). But if i issue a shutdown force on the primary database, the other database don't become online. I must use takeover by force. Is there any way or an option i missed ? thx

Does anyone have any monitoring scripts to check the HADR servers for availability, in order to determine that a failover should be invoked (switch the primary and secondary databases)?

I have written a multithreaded TCP/IP server to do some work for connected clients. This server sends and receives text only data. When it was initially run as a console app I could debug in realtime just by writing to the console. Now that it runs as a service I don't have a console but would still like to occasionally see what is going on. Since I already know how to write a multithreaded listener I started up a multithreaded listener...

I'm having trouble getting HADR to work with the sample databases on two HS20 xSeries blades, Red Hat ES4 up3, DB2 8.2.4, getting the following error. SQL1768N Unable to start HADR. Reason code = "7" - The primary database failed to establish a connection to its standby database within the HADR timeout interval. What things should I check besides the remote host and remote service parameters on the standby database, which seem to be...

Hi, I want to test HADR in a windows environment. As default in DB2 there's only a manual takover possible. Are there some scripts available how I can automate this? I've found only some whitepapers with an automatic takover with HACMP and TSA. Regards Hobbit

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
