Re: Include all columns in an unique index

I do not know SQL Server's Cluster Index, can't comment there.
DB2 does not have an "index only table".
There are two table types that have "some" overlap:
* Range Clustered Tables (RCT). These are essentially arrays on disk.
Typically used for for static look up tables
* Multi dimensional clustering. (MDC)
Organizing the data in an n-dimensional cube.
The individual blcoks are indexed instead of the rows and located by
intersecting (or or-ing) the dimensions. As a result block indexes are
tiny with one entry potentially covering thousands of rows.

So in a way both these approaches are "index-less" tables. The end
result is the same: Fast access without duplication of data.

Cheers
Serge

Can you create a unique constraint on multiple columns, or does it have to be implemented as a unique index? If possible can someone please post some sample code? Thanks,

Have a table T1 with a uniqe index defined on columns COL1, COL2 with INCLUDE of COL3. So, what will the access path be for the following query: SELECT COL1, COL2 FROM T1 WHERE COL3 = 'ABC' Will it be an 'index only' scan or will DB2 have to go to the datapages to fetch records. TIA

hello, I am attempting to convert a oracle database to postgresql and I am having some problems creating a constraint across multiple columns which are a mixture of case insensitive and case sensitive. The original oracle database created an index with: CREATE UNIQUE INDEX hatidx ON hats (upper(name), upper(server), login); However postgresql can handle multiple columns in the index, or one function,

Table DDL below: The tables I have contain Timesheet information. Each row in the tblTSCollected table contains an entry for an employee into the timesheet system, specifically by scanning the barcode on their badge. A whole bunch of business logic periodically attempts to "pair" these into logically matched scans. For example, some employees will scan in and out of a single place of work. For these there will be a row written to...

I am new to databases and thus to Access. I have a situation where I am trying to figure out how to key some tables I am working with. Consider that I have a database of my own records which are invoices I work on. These invoices are from four companies with their own invoice numbers. So, I cannot key by invoice number because there is a likelihood of invoice numbers duplicated by different companies. The records in this table of joined...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
