Hi.
I have recently encountered a serious problem with mysql: the
mysqld-nt service pegs the processor at 100% after I start it. I
noticed this right after a crash of the service, and the size of one
of the tablespaces (the second, auto-extending one) grew to larger
than 500GB (it is now 503 GB). I have currently turned off all apps
that access the DB, but the mysql process on the server still holds at
100% after I restart it. ...

Hi - I would be grateful for guidance on the following.
The following concerns the DDL for Creating an Auxilliary Table that is
associated with the CLOB column of a 'base' Table.
(I have just recently gained exposure to DB2 UDB for Windows, my
experience lies with DB2 for OS/390.)

Hi,
I've read everything I can get my hands on and am still very
confused about the similarities and differences between
db2_mmap_read/write and concurrent i/o. It seems to me at this point
that they are virtually identical except that db2_mmap_read/write
applies at an instance level and concurrent i/o can be aplied at a
tablespace level. It seems that they both bypass the AIX file cache
and eliminate i-node locking. Is this correct?

I have noticed an incredible difference in performance between DB2 LUW
v8.2.5 and V9.1.1 with regards to CLOBs.
I will sketch the scenario i have tested.
I created a table with 1 Integer column, 50 Varchar(20) columns and 4
CLOB(1M) columns. These were all created on a REGULAR USER TABLESPACE
for both DB2 v8.2.5 an Db2 V9.1.1
I created an index on the integer column. I created two stored
procedures one which inserted into the table....

Customer wanted us to figure out why their database was growing at an
astronomical rate.
We broke down the various fields making up a table, and we found that the
..LB file was using about 1k per row, where the average length of the two
combined CLOB fields in the table was 12 bytes (4 bytes standard deviation).
So i hex edited the .lb file and found the problem, each clob value is
taking 0x400 bytes i.e. 1024 bytes.

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
