Newbie question : SQL search problem with substituted characters

1 New Member
Hi All,

I have set of strings in the db2 table and two range keys to search. I have to finds strings the table which would be in between the range of keys defined.

Strings in the colum to search (COLUMN_TO_SEAR CH) :
KAVICEH&,KAVICE H>,K$VICEH&,KAV ICEH$

Range of keys defined : KAVIC$$$ , KAVIC$$/

SQL query may looks like :

select <COLUMN_TO_SEAR CH> from <table> where COLUMN_TO_SEARC H <= 'KAVIC$$$' and COLUMN_TO_SEARC H >='KAVIC$$/'

The above query will not return any result sets, So how we can do proper query that returns correct result set ?

Thanks,
Deeak

btw;
If we do substring based SQL, then it returns correct result set, But i can't do that search always. So that solution may be invalid.

substring based query :

select <COLUMN_TO_SEAR CH> from <table> where substr(COLUMN_T O_SEARCH,1,5) <= substr('KAVIC$$ $',1,5) and substr(COLUMN_T O_SEARCH,1,5) >= substr('KAVIC$$/',1,5);

Im writing a program to search for a string in a binary file. And it works. The problem is: It is sooo slow! how can i make it faster? It takes 27 seconds just to search a 5 meg file. I guess it has something to do with the strequal() function... Btw, thanks to all of you who answered last time! code: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- #include <stdio.h>

Can you do a search for more that one string in another string? Something like: someString.IndexOf("something1","something2","something3",0) or would you have to do something like: if ((someString.IndexOf("something1",0) >= 0) || ((someString.IndexOf("something2",0) >= 0) ||

I have been using phpdig in some websites but now I stored a lot of larger texts into a mysql database. In the phpdig search engine, when you entered a search word, the page where the search word was found was displayed with about 2 lines before and 2 lines behind the search word itself. Let us say you look for "peanut butter" an the word is found in a larger text about sandwiches, even when it is on the 40th line of the text you would get...

I need a program that simulates the search-and-replace operation in a text editor. The program is to have only three function calls in main. The first function prompts the user to type a string of fewer than 80 characters. It then prompts the user to type the search-substring of 10 or fewer characters. Finally, it prompts the user to type the replace-substring of 10 or fewer characters. The second function call is the search-and-replace...

I'm trying to modify a find/replace script which iterates through a file A and makes replacements defined in a csv file B. My original goal was to change any line in file A containing a search string (in whole or as a substring) defined in file B. File B contains both the search string and the string it should be changed into. Example file A whippy slippy ippy slippy snoob flop bloppy

Hi Edwin, Filemask is obvious as it is assigned in the python code itself. It is "%file%". The idea is that the file clicked is substituted for the "%file%" by the replace action. The file that needs to be substituted is a simple file on disk. Here is a dump of the file and it's characters. I do understand that it is not in the range of ASCII but how can I make it so that it will work?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
