how to use db2 connect server as a gateway to connect to mainframe db2 database

we have os/400 db2 database at the backend.
i installed db2 v9 connect server on one windows server which is
locating the same network with database server.

now how to i configure the connect server and client, so client could
access the database through the connect server?

like that:

db2client <--db2 connect server <--db2 mainframe database

IBM keeps talking about this structure but never mention about the
configuration in all the manuals.:(

thanks for help!

Hi!

here the short way (didnt installed db2 on windows already, but it
should work this way):
at the server: catalog a node to the mainframe and catalog the mainframe
db on that node (remote db)
at the client: use your connect server as db server with user and
password of the os/400 db system.

Thats all. Nothing spezial.

with best regards

Our websphere application uses a generic application userid to connect and query db2 on z/os via DB2 connect. The end user, logs in to the application using his regular userid, which is then authenticated with the mainframe and if its ok, then the application proceeds using the generic application id. We are not able to track the user in the...

We are trying to determine the easiest (and cheapest) way to get connections for about 50 Win2K workstations on our LAN to DB2 on a z/OS server. We could install DB2 Connect Personal Edition on every workstation, but that would require purchasing a license for each workstation (or, more likely, a site license). We would like to avoid that...

I have an application that uses IBM DB2 Universal Data Base Version 8.2 to update DB2 tables on a RS/6000 platform. I would like to change it to update DB2 tables on an IBM Mainframe using DB2 Connect. My question is whether this will be transparent to the application? Thanx, Joe Jadick

Hi, All, I have question on DB2 CONNECT configure. We installed DB2 ESE V8 FixPak 14 o AIX . When we set up the connection to DB2 Mainframe. We just catalog node and DB directory without DCS. From what I know, DB2 conenct needs to set up node, dcs and db directories. Why DB2 CONNECT can connect to DB2 mainframe without the DCS?
