I am just confused because of the following scenario.
* I have turned on the new 8.2 registry variables skipdeleted,
skipinserted, evaluncommitted to ON
* I gave a select * from <>, it was waiting for a lock, it needed an
intent share lock on the particular table..
the lock that it was waiting on was eXclusive row lock that another
process(process-2) was having, process-2 was updating the table 500
rows at a time before
committing
* I was hoping this will not result because of the new registry
variables!!!!
I tried db2pd to get the isolation levels of the applications, but
with no joy...
How can I get the isolation level?

DB2_EVALUNCOMMI TTED allows an application with CS/RS isolation to read
through a lock to determine if a row does not qualify (i.e. with a
SARGable predicate). Since your query is doing 'select * from <>' (no
predicates) DB2_EVALUNCOMMI TTED doesn't apply.

Process A performs a single sql-INSERT into a table and commits the
transaction. Then he informs process B (ipc) to read the new date. So
process B starts "select ..." but does not get the previously inserted

Is there some way to track the isolation level of an indivual SQL
statement submitted via JDBC in a snaphot or some other similar means?
I have JDBC programs that are changing the isolation level via
Connection.setTransactionIsolation(int level) method, such as
TRANSACTION_SERIALIZABLE or TRANSACTION_REPEATABLE_READ and I need to
verify that in DB2 at a SQL statement level. I don't see isolation
level in a snapshot for Dynamic SQL.

Hi.
I need a better understanding of transaction isolation levels. I can't seem
to visualize a scenario for each level. The serializable level is the only
one I really understand. I do not seem to grasp what a RepeatableRead is or
what a phantom row is. I think I need a more non-technical definition.
Does anyone know of any resource that would provide this? I have many books
and MSDN libraries but still am unclear.
