Hi,
I have a table with about 100K rows, on which I have created a btree index
of the type table_name(int, int, int, timestamp).
At first postgres was using it for my AND query on all four columns, but
after dropping it and creating different ones and testing, it suddenly
stopped using it. Vaccuuming, reindexing, recreating the table and even
recreating the database all didn't help.

I have added primary key to my table using the 'ALTER TABLE' statement.
Now, is it mandatory for me to use the 'CREATE UNIQUE INDEX' on primary
key columns in order to enforce the primary key constraint?
I have a vague idea that unique indexes are automatically created when we
specify the primary key constraint.
Can somebody please confirm this?
Cheers,
San.

Hello, I'm looking for a method to check the utilization of index by
any SQL (Static and Dynamic) at the database level instead of
generating the access plan for each SQL.
I have inherited a database where index occupies more space than the
data and most of the indexes are looking redundant to me hence I would
like to check each index utilization and drop the same if it is not
used.

On a 3 column table, the PK consists of all 3 columns.
I have queries on the first two columns, as well as on the last two
columns. (Select * where column3=x and column2=y.)
I was hoping that this same pk index will suffice for the latter
(reverse-scan is on), but its doing a table scan.
Have I misinterpreted what a reverse-scan is?
Please advise. Thanks.

What are the advantages / disadvantages of having primary keys in lieu
of ordinary indexes ? If there are no foreign relationships defined, is
it better to have a two column index allowing reverse scans or primary
key ? Any performance or other benefits / issues ?
Many thanks.

Folks,
I am having problem with an application that uses static SQL,
the application basically browses through the table given start and
end key most of the time it is processed from begining to end.
The db2expln tells me that there is no Data or Index prefetch.
I am running DB2 UDB 8 on AIX 5.3, and I am using DMS tablespace on
raw logical volumes on a SAN.

hi all,
i heard that db2 ignores indexes when using any column function on the
column which has index on it. but i have seen db2 using indexes even
when using column function.
what is the criteria of db2 about picking index or not picking index
when there is a column function ?
i am using function on one column like below

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
