Hi ppl,
The requirement is to load a table from a dataset which
has data in comma separated format.The data in the PS file looks
something like this...
A001,"KARNATAKA ",908345,"ALPHA "
B001,"ANDHRA PRADESH",903784 ,"BETA"
The platform on which i am using is IBM mainframe Z/OS V1R.
The DB2 version is 7.1
Can anyone provide me with the JCL which can do this loading ...
Pls mention where i have to make changes and to what in order to run
the JCL

I don't know how you do it in JCL but on DB2 UDB (LUW).... you can do
something like:
db2 promptload from <datafile>.tx t of del modified by coldel,
modified by chardel" insert into <tablename;
maybe you can find some information on the db2 information center

EE instance DB2 v7.2.0 fixpack 3 on WIN2K.
I select some data from a table A and write it to a file using the COALESCE
function and whitespace as the null character:
eg coalesce(col1, ' '). This column has 10,000 nulls in table A.
Select count(*) from table A where col1 is null=10,000
Using the load utlity, I load the data file as follows into table B which
has not null constraint on col1:
LOAD FROM LOAD.TEST OF ASC

The DB modeling tool I am using likes to put the PK columns at the
very top of the CREATE TABLE ddl, so the ordering of the columns in
the FROM schema is sometimes different from the ordering in the TO schema.

Recently I became interested, - Are the data, bulk loaded in the table with
LOAD utility, consume the same disk space as loaded with IMPORT utility? The
answer turned out to be NOT !
Here is a nutshell description of the test. The testing was done at
"DB2/LINUX 8.2.3".
Tables for tests:
F4106 has 5203 rows, 32 columns.
F42199 has 1399252 rows, 245 columns.

i have an employee master table that i've broken up into many tables using
normalization and what made logical sense (i.e. Education table, Equipment
table, military history table, etc. i think there may be about 8 tables).
What i was wondering was when a user selects an employee to modify would i
load all the tables up for that employee or would i just load the most used
values?
