Identifying a password for the newly created user to a database in DB2

3 New Member
Hi,

I have created a new user for a database that i hav created in DB2, by expanding the database tree diagram in control center right upto DB users folder, and then right clicking it and selecting "Add...".

It opens up a window, where we hav to specify the name of the user, and the various privileges to the new user.

if we click"ok" the new user is created.

BUT THE PROBLEM IS I DON'T KNOW WAT IS THE PASSWORD (or DEFAULT PASSWORD) FOR THE NEWLY CREATED USER.

Because there is no such option for providing a password for the new user!!!

Please someone help me!!!

also the username & password i used is one u give while installing db2.
now if u create a new user and a table in it u can access it by username.tablen ame

in my program db2admin & varma are the user name & password i gave while installing db2. VARMA is my created user in db2 & student is a table in it.so i accessed it as VARMA.STUDENT and there is no need of a password for that.

Hi, When I create a new database from Enterprise Manager (right click on databases > New Database) I noticed that I am not prompted to create a password or user name. Can I take it then that all databases under the same local group will have the same password and user name? I have tied to access the newly created database using the same password and username but haven't had any luck.

I created a desktop shortcut with "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\MSAccess.exe" "C:\My Documents\CopyAToB.mdb" /pwd "password: The trouble is that when running this shortcut, it prompts first for a Logon, asking for user name and password -- then it prompts for the database password. (Two password prompts). I am using very simple Access security -- no special user groups, etc...just a simple password to open the MDB file. To solve,...

I have a password secured database. After the password is entered the user has a form that I created that allows them to search the database and retrieve information. The problem is that the connection string requires a the database password even though the user entered it to open the database. How can I get the password from the system to build the connection string? Thanks for any help, Whitey

I had a web page that worked very nicely until I changed the SA password. The page used data widgets for connectivity to SQL server. I changed the password in the Server Explorer link, but the code gets to the .fill method and gives me an error that SA can't login. I've now spent several hours futzing with the widgets, reconnecting to the database which tests OK, and I still can't get past the .fill. It's clear that MS buries code...

I have some accounting and tax receipting type applications, developed for charitable and non profit groups, that are exhibiting strange behaviour on a few of the 30 or 40 user machines. When some users (about 3 or 4 it seems) close the frontend db the Access database password prompt appears. Users can just Cancel the pw prompt (or enter the correct password) and the db will then close. On the MS Office forum I found a post that...

When the password is hashed and most secure this control mails a new password to anybody that provides an authenticated user name. The previous password can no longer be used to login. The newly "recovered" password must be used to login and then the user must change the newly generated password back to what may be a preferred password. Know anybody you want to harrass? Simply enter their user name into an ASP.NET 2.0 Password Recovery...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
