I have two functions in my shared library which are declared as
follows:
void setName(const std::string& str);
std::vector<std::string> getInfo();
Since the code is compiled and in shared library. Every thing is great
if the customer of my shared library is using the same compiler
version (and same STL version). I am wondering if the customer changes
their compiler version (or STL version) which may have same interface

I am experiencing a library issue that appears to be environment
related but cannot isolate the cause. I would greatly appreciate any
assistance anyone could provide. Apologies for the length but I wanted
to be sure to include all relevant information.
My environment is as follows:
Operating System: IBM AIX 5.3 MR 2 64bit
DB2: 8.2 Fix Pack 2
All instances created as 64bit instances. I am able to start all

Are MAGIC numbers always bad?
Using magic numbers (constant numbers) in programs are generally
considered a bad programming practice, and it's recommended that to
define constants in single, visible place in a header file. My question
is that is there any situation where using magic numbers is not
necessarily a bad thing? lets say that we want to initialize some
private variables in a class using some constant default numbers, can
we...

Hi, I am trying to run my application (32-bit) on HP-UX 11.22i (64-bit)
and am getting the above message while dynamically loading libdb2.so
from my application. I am using dlopen as follows:
dlopen(libName, RTLD_NOW);
I have looked up notes from DB2 that say that as long as I link with
32-bit DB2 libs, the application should work. I have made sure I have
32-bit DB2 libs in the SHLIB_PATH and also made sure that my
application is...

I have a package of python modules deployed on an NFS mount on my
network that I use for sysadmin tools. Since some of the machines use
different versions of python I've only put the .py files in the mounted
share. However, I'm getting ImportError: Bad Magic Number when I try
to load any of the modules from the mount point. All the discussions I
can find say that a bad magic number should only occur with a
mismatched interpreter and...

all). And the following is the test program:

Hi,
I recently started working a lot more in python than I have done in
the past. And I discovered something that totally removed the pretty
pink clouds of beautifulness that had surrounded my previous python
experiences: magic names (I felt almost as sad as when I discovered
the strange pink worms that eat you in nethack, not to mention the
mind flayers - I really hate them).
I guess all programming languages have magic names to some...

Thank you, again, Michael, for all your help many months ago.
I *FINALLY* got a HowTo done up; please see http://wiki.python.org/moin/HowTo/FileMagic
I've also emailed Mr. Hupp to see if he'll re-post the SWIG version;
he's working on a newer binding (forget... ctypes??) and once that
one's working... :)
But for now...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
