Sort memory

Raj
How can we increase the size of sortheap for individual sorts?
sortheap db parameter is the max mem that can be allocated for private
sorts or shared sorts so the parameter which would sorts should be
app_ctrl_heap size or appheapsize rather than sort heap??
I read somewhere that e sort heap is allocated from agent private
memory .. so where does that come from? i mean what db parameter would
affect it??

Thanks a lot for your time..

Increase the size of of sortheap by allocating a larger sortheap. There
are one or two additional parameters that can also effect this.
Sheapthres and (depending on what version you are running)
sheapthres_shr. Sortheap is the (default) amount of storage allocated
when a sort starts. The sheapthres parameters control the maximum amount
of storage allocated for all concurrent sorts for the instance.

Search the online information center for the parameters to get full
details about using them.

Hi, I try to implement quick sort. I sort vectors by their first value. 10 2 3 4 9 3 5 6 10 4 5 6 must be 9 3 5 6 10 2 3 4 10 4 5 6 The prog works great on maybe 500 vectors, but I have an "Aborted(core

I have some questions about the STL template "vector": - Do I need to do anything (e.g., "delete") to free memory when I`m done with a vector? I just declare it, and I know it allocates memory as needed. Just not sure about it releasing memory. - Does the STL algorithm "sort" work on vectors of complex objects? (The simplistic examples I found only sort integers, not objects with lots of attributes.) If so, on what does it sort? (each...

Hello, If the explain shows that DB2 needs to sort the result of a cursor, does that always happen? i.e. if the resultset of the cursor is empty, does the sort have any overhead? It appears that, majority of the time is spent in allocation and deallocation of the temporary file to hold the data for the sort. Do these activities still take place for an empty cursor? Also, DB2 manual appears to say that only RID sorts are done in

We are on a db2 v8.2 (fix 8) with DPF & intra parllelism. Below are sort related configuration settings ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sort heap threshold (4KB) (SHEAPTHRES) = 200000 Sort heap thres for shared sorts (4KB) (SHEAPTHRES_SHR) = (SHEAPTHRES) ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
