Catalog Database

Hi ,

I want to catalog a database and I have the follwoing information with
me.
Node name = abcdef
Comment =
Protocol = TCPIP
Hostname = abcdef.portsmou th.uk.ibm.com
Service name = 5912

I have a database XYZ that is residing in
abcdef.portsmou th.uk.ibm.com . I dont know this database is in which
instance . I have to find out that . as that is required whiile
catalogging the Database.

Now I want to catalog this from Server1 . The current instance in
Server1 is db2inst0
I am using the following command to catalog .

db2 catalog tcpip node abcdef.portsmou th.uk.ibm.com server 5912
OSTYPE AIX . <--------- this command works perfectly
alright ...but I need to specify the remote instacne name .

.. how to get that ..????

The correct syntax for the statement is:

db2 catalog tcpip node <nodename> remote <servername or IP> server
<instance port>

then db2 catalog database XXX at node <nodename>

It does work now. There was just a misunderstandin g regarding the necessity
to specify the name of the remote instance in the CATALOG command.

Hi ,

Learning :
1.There is indeed no need to specify the instance name or else even we
can specify the current istance of our server.
2. Once you have catalogged try to attach to the node using the
following command :
db2 attach to node_name user user_name using pass_word.
<----------If it completes successful , our catalogging task has been
confirmed succes.

Thanks a lot every one..

Could somebody confirm the behavior of UNCATALOG & CATALOG command based on the following situation: There are two NODES on DB2 UDB v8.1, MYNODEA & MYNODEB. MYNODEA has two databases proda & prodb & MYNODEB has an alias database dbload - catalog from proda initially. Three end-users are currently connected to dbload. NODE MYNODEA: Databases: PRODA

Hi everyone, Can anyone answers my questions. My server is AIX and is 5.2 and the db2 udb of V 8.1 Fixpak 9. What exactly is the tools catalog for? How it is uaseful in performing automatic runstats and reorgs? Can the tools catalog be centralized for a given server (AIX/LINUX)? How can I know if there is a tools catalog existing for a given database or an instance?

Hi folks, I installed DB2 V9.1 FP2 on RHEL AS V4 (DB2 Server) and Win XP SP2 (DB2 Client). The strange thing, there were two database aliases TOOLS0 & TOOLS1 in the DB2 Client that were mapping to the same remote tools catalog database TOOLSDB in the DB2 Server after I created a new tools catalog database by Control Center.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
