Our database size is currently 4G and is incrementing at a rate of
45M/day. What is the max size of a SQL database? And what is the
size beyond which the server performance will start to go down?

Hello,
I am starting to examine using SQLServer instead of Oracle. I went
through the SQLServer import utility to copy tables from Oracle into
SQLServer. I then checked the size of the database.
I then started to specify indices for the tables. I did not see the
database file size grow all that much. I kept on using the shrink
command to make sure that wasted space was removed. I even made sure
that minimal free space was allowed.

I am novice to MS Access Development,
I regularly back my access database every 2, 3 days ...today when I was
going to back my database I saw the access file on the network drive was only
9 MB in size, while the backup files that I had saved few days back were 258
MB in size.
And the network drive is where the database is saved on.
Can anyone suggest something why or how I can track what happend or a way to

Hi Group,
It's really confusing to calculate the size of the DB2 UDB database in
versions lesser than 8.2.
In Version 8.2 if we run the query db2 "call get_dbsize_info(?,?,?,0)"
it gives us an approximate size of the database.
But it we try calculating the file system sizes of the database home
directory, containers file system it gives some other size...

Hi all,
My databases seem to become corrupted as soon as they reach 2GB. Once
it does become corrupted the only fix is to create a new database and
transfer everything into that. I need to avoid that happening and I'm
not sure exactly how to do that. Is there a way that I can check the
size of the database (don't know how) and then remove obselete tables
(know how to) if its over a threshold and then compact and repair the
db (know...

Hi, i've spent all resources, except this one. Hopefully anyone there out could help me with a idea for this problem.
We have a db2 8.2 Enterprise Edition, on AIX 5.3 Platform, this is our production database. We had to do a full restore over this database for a problem with a tablespace. The problem cames after 5 days after full restore.
The problem is the following, we are having erratic, fluctuating size on our backups, and this is...

solve it.

Is there a way to save Location and Size into a single text field, on

If yes, how can convert Location and Size into String and then Back to

Hi all,
Could you please advise whether there are documents describing impact of
MS SQL server 2005 database size on its performance? I have essentially
two things in mind when writing the "database size":
1.) number of records stored within the database (e.g. one customer's
account with 5,000 records vs. another account with 500,000 records.)
2.) physical database size (amount of data written to a disk volume) -
e.g. one database of...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
