Hi,
I've got what I think (probably incorrectly) should be a simple SELECT :
Two colums with data like
col1 col2
1 50
1 51
2 50

I'm not a SQL expert. I want to be able to write a stored procedure
that will return 'people who bought this product also bought this...'.
I have a user table that links to a transaction table that links to a
transaction items table that links to the products table:
(User Table)
UserID
Other user data

My table looks like this:
char(150) HTTP_REF,
char(250) HTTP_USER,
char(150) REMOTE_ADDR,
char(150) REMOTE_HOST,
char(150) URL,
smalldatetime TIME_STAMP
There are no indexes on this table and there are only 293,658 records total.

I have 1 table (out of many) that has very poor performance when performing
a select into on. The select statement is called multiple times. We've
found each call to take almost 1 second... we were expecting less than .1
seconds.
The select stmt looks like:
select key,data into key_buff, data_buff from tablename where key > curr_key
AND key < max_key ORDER by key FETCH FIRST 1 ROW ONLY;

Hi,
Has anyone got problem with this on large table. It seems it take ages to return the result ( half an hour :-( ).
SELECT COUNT(*) FROM COORDINATE
A strange thing is the tempory space (System Managed) keeps growing during the query:

I bound my package with EXPLAIN(YES), and it's got the following static
SQL in it:
EXEC SQL SELECT CARDF, RECLENGTH
INTO :CARDF,:RECLENGTH
FROM SYSIBM.SYSTABLES
WHERE NAME = :TBNAME
AND CREATOR = :TBCREATOR
The explain shows that it does a *full table scan* on SYSIBM.SYSTABLES!

Hello,
I'm new to the list and did not find a suitable answer to my question so
here it is:
I try to select the rows of a table where the content of a varchar-column
is empty ('') and PostgresQL is doing a seqscan.
I've tried this on a PostgresQL-Serverversion 7.3.4 and 8.0 beta1.

Hi Posgres users/developers,
Can anyone explain why PosgreSQL (version 7.4.5 on Linux) does a full
table scan to compute a count(*) on a base table after a vacuum analyze
has been done with no following updates that might have outdated any
statistics. Strangly the explain command does give the correct number of
tuples instantaniously from the catalog, as one would expect. Still the
optimizer thinks it needs a full table scan to do count....

Hi, all.
My background is more Oracle than db2. My skills at SQL tuning are
quite limited.
I'm running 8.2 on Windows.
I'm tasked with some SQL optimization, and am doing some explain plans
on various queries.

You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...
