I have UDB 8.1 Personal Edition installed.
I'm using Development centre to develop JAVA Stored Procedues. I am unable
to debug them.
I have installed IBM Distributed Debugger and have set DB2ROUTINE_DEBUG=ON.
I installed Distributed Debugger after UDB. The Procs will build with debug
but no debugger window appears when run in debug mode. I followed the
instructions that came with Debugger regarding the installation directory
etc.

This question if for UDB on LUW. Suppose I take regular database
backups of my database
Monday: database backup <ts1>
Tuesday: Tablespace reorged and imagecopied <ts2>
Friday: database restored and roll-forwarded to a timestamp <ts3> on
Wednesday.
Now my question is: because the entire database is being
roll-forwarded, I suppose the database roll forward operation will

Hello!! Had some questions about UDB...
1. In the disaster recovery section, the manual states: "
"If your plan for disaster recovery is to recover the entire database
on another machine, you require at least one full database backup and
all the archived logs for the database. Even if you have a separate
backup image of every table space, you cannot use them to recover the
database.".

Hello!!
Had some UDB related questions:
1. What is a 'session' in UDB? For example, the manual says "If a backup
image was created using multiple sessions, db2ckbkp can examine all of
the files at the same time. Users are responsible for ensuring that the
session with sequence number 001 is the first file specified."
2. How does db2flsn work? Where is the 'mapping' between the logs and the

Hi,
I have a quick question, when one sets the prefetch size = extent size, then
when doing a backup we will have 1 agent (db2bm) doing the reads. If we have
prefetch size a multiple of extent size AND we have multiple containers
and/or PARALLEL_IO set then not db2bm but the db2 prefetchers will read the
data.
Now no matter which one reads the data, it will still be read in 1 extent
size. Wouldn't it thus be much more efficient to...

Friends,
I have read DB2/UDB 8.x 'RESTORE DATABASE Command', with my 'limited'
knowledge & skill. I think it should address my concern, but I want
advice/ opinion / experience and any care I must take to restore
DB2/UDB 8.x database 64 to 32 bit).
(1) Due to hardware limitaion I can not have 64 bit DB2/UDB 8 on AIX
4.3.3 host. Let us call this as host vhost32. I can migrate 7.2EE
FP11 32bit to 8.x 32 bit on vhost32. This is my test...

Hi all,
I have DB2ESE version 8.1 with FP 4 on AIX 5.2. My database used to be
1.1TB. When the DB size is 1.1TB, it takes approximately 7 hours to
backup the entire database (online backup). The backup is directed to
disk and not tape.
Recently, we did data archival by purging some of the records. Now, the
size of the database is 500GB plus. That means, only data purged and we
never resize the tablespace. Therefore, the allocated...

Hi all,
a couple of questions regarding LOAD COPY YES:
when does a LOAD COPY YES start to write its backup image ? After LOAD
Phase or after BUILD or DELETE phase?
What gets backed up - data pages only or index pages as well?
When I use TSM as backup target, will DB2 send an estimate of the
backup size to TSM before backup starts?
TIA for any answer

ONU (Optical Network Unit) is one of the key components for providing high-speed Internet services. Its primary function is to act as an endpoint device located at the user's premises. However, people are often confused as to whether an ONU can Work As a Router. In this blog post, we’ll explore What is ONU, What Is Router, ONU & Router’s main usage, and What is the difference between ONU and Router. Let’s take a closer look !

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
