SOS - how to uninstall DB2 Express 8.1. on Windows Server 2000

I need to uninstall DB2 Express on a W2K Server as the
evaluation period has expired to reclaim a fair chunk of
disk space.
The program was not in the list of the Windows
Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel,
(but is for Windows XP) nor was there an Uninstall
program as part of DB2 menu tree.

So, I decided to try uninstall it manually by deleting
folders and files and registry entries.

It didn't work. Most of the files and folders could not be
deleted. Got messages like ' so-and-so' is in use/shared'.

Can anyone suggest how I can get it off the W2K Server? OR
point me to a more appropriate forum OR
how to get free assistance from IBM (as they should have
provided an uninstaller in the first place).

Best regards
Ken Resander

Normally the uninstaller is provided but something must have gone wrong
during installation.
You can find the instructions to remove DB2 manually at

I wrote a small assembly to test the process of placing it into the Global Assembly Cache but now I cannot remove it. When I hi-light and click delete I get the following: Assembly 'Assembly Name' could not be uninstalled because it is required by other applications. I have signed on as the local administrator, I booted into safe mode and I keep getting this message. Can you only put assemblies into the GAC? I would assume if you...

Hello all, is there a way to programatically uninstall a program via one of the Windows Management classes or one of the Win32 classes? I'm looking for a way to invoke the process that occurs when you click Add or Remove Programs in the control panel. I have some applications in an install base that I not longer have the setup.exe file (Installshield express) for. If I had that, I could just use the command line switches to do it but alas,...

I hope someone can point me in the right direction, please. TIA. Basically, I got a Vista OS machine to test my VB6 app on it as some

Hi all, I posted this question in the sqlserver.newusers group but I am not getting any response there so I am going to try it on the fine folks here:). I inherited some legacy ASP codes in my office. The original code's backend is using the SQL Server 2000 and I am testing to use it on the Express edition. And I run into the following problem.

Hello, Sorry if this is slightly OT, but I reckon there would be folks here who would know... I have a Windows 2003 Server box, SP4 and .NET 2.0 installed. Trouble is that it also has .NET versions 1.0 and 1.1 installed. I would just ignore them, but occasionally one or two of the web sites on the machine seem to set themselves to the wrong version, and this causes errors. I have no idea why or how this happens, but it does happen...

I've seen many posts and ready articles discussing how changing the membership & roles "provider" in VS .NET is easy, but have yet to see instructions on how to do it. If I already have SQL Server 2000 on a machine and didn't install SQL Server 2005 Express with my VS .NET installation, how do I set up my existing SQL 2000 server to be the membership & roles provider for ASP .NET?

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
