Hi,
I have had a site working for the last 2 years and have had no problems
until at the weekend I replace my database server with a newer one. The
database migration went like a dream and I had the whole db changed over
in 1 hour.
Since the upgrade I have been getting the following error message
sporadically.

Various versions of my app have been in use for the last 5 years or so
(in Access 97, 2K and XP editions). To upgrade the back end for people
I have to add fields to some tables, some new indexes, and a few
tables.
I have been looking at the dbUpgrader demo (the ActiveX device), but
have not been able to get it to work. Before I spend a lot of time on
this I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on whether this is
worthwhile or if...

I upgraded my main production db from 7.3.4 last night to 7.4.1. I'm
running into an issue where a big query that may take 30-40 seconds to
reply is holding up all other backends from performing their queries.
Once the big query is finished, all the tiny ones fly through. This is
seemingly ne behavior on the box, as with previous versions things would
slow down, but not wait for the cpu/resource hog queries to finish. The
box is...

Hi
I have an existing Access DB that consists of tables, forms, queries and
reports. I need to get it online and into SQL server, what is the quickest
and best way to do this? Is there a magical export procedure to turn the
forms into webpages with the data driving it and also export the reports and
queries? or do i need to upsize the data and build the forms and reports by
again online?
Thanks for your help

I'm almost ready to build an upgrade routine for a commercial app that will
need to import data from an existing Access 97 back-end database to an
Access 2007 back-end blank database. Ideally, it would be nice to have the
program detect, on first launch, whether the back end database is blank, and
ask the user if they want to begin a new database (putting them into the
blank one), or import data from the previous version (the access 97...

We recently upgraded our MS SQL Server 2000 to 2005.
Here is what we did:
1. Perform backup of the database from the old server.
2. Created a blank database in the new server.
3. Restored the database into the blank database located in the new server.
After this process, there was an obvious slowness in the MS Access
application. Program-wise, I did not do any code changes. The only thing

I have a hp that is running vista home premium with 4 gig memory. It has slowed down to the point it takes 25 minutes to boot and is totally unfunctional. I have completelty reloaded the harddrive and this had no effect. Still slow. I assume that I have a hardwire issue. Motherboard, CPU, or memory. I did have my power supply go out right before this issue happened. Could my new power supply be causing this issue. I don't understand how...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
