DB2 Connect - PE v8.1 - problem

Tcs
I've been running DB2 Connect - PE (v8.x, FP7a) on my XP, sp1 machine. I've
been running the trial version (from ftp.software.ib m.com). It timed out last
Thursday, which I found out on Friday morning. So I tried to reinstall it.
While reinstalling it has worked in the past, it didn't work *this* time. I
thought perhaps it was the CD I was using. So I tried another. And had the
same result. Then I dug up the "original" IBM CD, instead of using my working
copy. *SAME* PROBLEM. Here is the error message (from Windows Installer):

Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file
location exists and is writable.

I'm *hoping* that it's as simple as the log file location does *not* exist. But
I don't understand why I'm having a problem at all. I haven't had a problem
before. So why now? I've tried looking on the original CD to see if I couldn't
find some indication of what and where the log file is supposed to be. I can't.
There is *NO* mention of it, that *I* can find.

Bottom line? I'd *like* to get this resolved, so I can install DB2 Connect, and
"move on". And I'd *like* to install DB2 from the original CD, if possible.

Anyone know what this log file should be named, and where it should be located?
And how I might "fix" my problem?

Many thanks, in advance,

Tom

It sounds like you never got the license installed. You should be able
to use the db2licm command to view your current license then install the
permanent license file from the CD.

Explanations of how to use the command are in the Command Reference manual.

I am using DB2 Connect on HP-UX 11i to read data from an AS400 using SQL. DB2 Connect is converting a vertical bar (¦) character to this: ª. Please see the example below. I have tried changing the user ID's CCSID to 037 and this did not correct the problem. Any suggestions would be greatly apprecated. Thanks. Data as it appears on the 400:...

Hi, I'm using a non-blocking connect to connect to a server. Works fine -- the server gets and accepts the connection. However, once the connection is established, I cannot retrieve either the local or the remote endpoint from the client-side socket. The *really* strange thing is that Socket.LocalEndPoint is null. According to the doc,...

I am makeing a Multicast server client setup and was wondering what the difference is between Socket.Connect, and Socket.Bind. It may be a stupid question, but I was just curious. Because I tried a test, and I can't bind two sockets to the same port/ip but I can connect with one socket, and bind with another to the same ip/port. Thanks
