VDC, a research firm specializing in embedded systems, is conducting a
survey of embedded database users. We are interested in your opinions
about databases and projects. The survey takes 5 minutes, perhaps
shorter depending on your answers.
VDC will not distribute your contact information, which is gathered
solely for the purposes of a drawing for (6) $50 amazon.com gift
certificates and 25 T-Shirts.
The URL is here:

Hi,
I am starting a new project where I intend to use
embedded database server in my win32 application.
I intend to use VC++ microsoft studio 6.0 as my

The documentation is unclear (at least to me) on the permissibility of
accessing DB2 (8.1.5) concurrently on and from Windows 2000 / XP / 2003,
with separate transactions scope, from separate threads of a multithreaded
program using embedded SQL. Since the threads do not need to share
transaction scopes, the sqleAttachToCtx family of APIs do not seem to be
necessary.

In the default implementation of threaded applications against...

This is your last chance to participate in VDC's survey on embedded
databases. Since you have helped us in the past with our research, I
was hoping you could take just 5 minutes out of your busy day to assist
us once again.
In exchange for your time VDC is offering survey respondents that
following benefits:
1. A chance to win one of (6) $50 dollar gift certificates to
amazon.com.

I have been working on an Access app that takes info from a file and writes
it to a spreadsheet on a form, simultaneously saving the spreadsheet to
Excel. I got the idea that the same concept could work in reverse, i.e. we
have a cost model written in Excel that calculates the profitability of
customer accounts based on several inputs and they need to be updated at
least once per year. These cost models sit on lots of people's hard...

First some background...
The database tracks Action Items assigned to a group of 20 or so
managers. Once the assignment is created it is then emailed to each of
the managers that are included in the scope of the assignment. Among the
functions that it provides is the ability to embed the source documents
in the database using OLE. The user has requested the ability to forward
the source document with the email. The embedded documents...

Hi,
ok, I found a way to connect to a running instance of an (external) Internet
Explorer and access - for example - the html source. That works fine!
But now I have running application with an embedded IE webBrowser Control.
Is there a possibility for my application to access the webBrowser control in
the other application, too?
Thanks in advance, Randy

For ease of configuration and other reasons, I would like for my
single-user GUI app to be able to use postgresql in-process as a library
accessing a database created in the users home directory. I think I
could possibly get what I want by launching a captive copy of postmaster
with appropriate args but it seems conceptually cleaner to not have a
seperate process at all. Has anyone tried to do anything like this?
I've looked at sqlite...

Hi,
I have 2 dll files that i add to my project as embedded resource.
However, as i need to work with them i add them as references.
Due to the fact they are as references, they are also delivered with my
main exe (which already include them as embedded resource) as stand
alone files.
How i can do to have them only as embedded resource and not as separated

I work in software research and developement in the aerospace industry.
We're assisting a project where they are interested in looking at web
services in an embedded system. This would most likely be WSDL/XML/SOAP.
While there would be fairly powerful processing to an extent, it's
still a resource-constrained environment, running on an RTOS (I think
VxWorks). In particular they are concerned about dynamic memory (don't
like it).
We're...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
