Vargraphic not available in GUI

I just created a new database server and installed 8.2.2 so fix pack 9a
on a windows server. I then created a database that was UTF-8 enabled.

Country/Region Default
Territory US
Code page UTF-8
Collating Sequence System
When I crate a table with the GUI I don't see the Graphic and Vargrahic
data types. If I create a vargraphic column on an create table
statement it works just fine and a describe on the table shows
vargraphic as the field data type. I am worried that at some point I
am going to need those datatypes available from the GUI.

Has anyone run into this problem?

I'm trying to copy production statistics to a test database and can't set the column statistics for a VARGRAPHIC column to match what RUNSTATS generated on production. The reason code and some testing I did indicates that the length of the low2key value is too long. It almost looks like the potential length of data to be stored is being calculated on the length of the hex string; without consideration that two bytes of the string...

My understanding is that GRAPHIC and VARGRAPHIC data types can store text encoded in UCS-2 in a Unicode database (ie when it is created so that CHAR is encoded in UTF-8). What is the encoding of GRAPHIC in a non Unicode database ? I have not found any documentation that explains this clearly. Thanks David

I'm implementing a UDP server socket from the system.net.sockets.socket class. (no, I don't want to use the udpclient class) I'm polling the socket in a thread, testing the socket.available property on each pass. With datagrams, does socket.available only advertise when there are complete packets in its buffers? What i mean to say is that if socket.Available > 0 then there will be at least 1 whole datagram ready to be read? So, if less...

Hi, I try to implement a reusable socket class to send and receive data. It seems to work but I have 2 problems : 1) I rely on Socket.Available to detect that the connection is closed (no more data to expect). Sometimes, Socket.Available returns 0 but the other end of the connection did not close it ! 2) This class will be used by many other classes so I have to use the

Hopefully someone will be able to help. I have written a stored procedure in C++ called from a Java test harness to validate the graphic data types in C++ and their use. I have declared the vargraphic input parameters along the following lines in i_vargraphic100 vargraphic(100) and they are populated from String's in java.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
