The Split Mirror functionality is achieved through the storage subsystem
(i.e. Hitachi ShadowImage, EMC Symmetrix BCVs, IBM ESS Flashcopy, etc.).
The specific implementation details are unique to each solution.

There are white papers on IBM's site that describe the technical
details. See the one for HDS:

Good luck,

All, I'd like to be able to use psycopg2's new features for my development work with postgresql, but unfortunately the init.d site seems to be broken and I can't get to the repository there. Does anyone know: a) Why init.d is down, and when it might be back up b) Where I might be able to find a psycopg2 mirror, and c) Whether there's a Gentoo ebuild available?

Our servers went down for over 6 hours yesterday and I was asked if there was a way to store the database on the server and a local station at the same time. My datbase is split and the tables are linked. Would there be a way to modify the table links to direct them to two seperate backends? Could there also be a non-linked table stored in the frontend alongside the table links? Our endpoint would be to have a mirror on the network...

How can I prove uptime (or quantify downtime) on an ASP.NET 1.1 Web application (running on an IIS6 Windows Server Standard server)? What's going on here is that I'm considering the feasability of claiming or at least establishing some percentage of availability for our production Web site (99.9%, or 99.99%, or 99.999% "five nines). Of course I'll only advertise the fact if I can establish it objectively (and it's at least 3 nines :) For...

If server 01 running HADR in the primary role crashes, and the DBA does a HADR takeover by force on the 02 server to switch roles, then the 02 server is now the primary. What happens when the Server 01 is brought back up? It still thinks it is the primary because that was its role when it crashed and it does not know about the takeover by force command that was issued. Does the 01 server check the 02 server to see what role they are in...

In Ancient time mirrors were held to be sacred, but they only had pools of water and pieces of metal available to observe their own reflection. The only way to get a clear image of what you looked like was to trust an artist to draw or paint your portrait. And the latin word for drawing another person portrait was, Enlightenment. But today we have highly advanced mirror technology available, which I believe is very useful in treating...

Hi all, if I accidentally use a TAKEOVER command with BY FORCE clause while primary and standby are in peer state I'll end up with two primary's (at least with FP10 and Windows). Is this works as designed or a bug ? Manuals say that the standby will inform the primary about the takeover but will not wait for acknowledgement, so the primary knows about whats going on. In my eyes primary should either switch to standby or shutdown...

I would like to make a split mirror copy of a HADR standby database. Please note that I do not want to create a standby with a split mirror of the primary, but I want to make a split mirror of the standby (for a reporting database). I know that I cannot do a write suspend on the standby because it does not allow any connections. But what if I just did a split mirror of the standby, do a db2inidb, then ship the logs over to the split...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
