Trying to upgrade alternate FP9 to alternate FP9a on Red Hat Linux. After
running the following command:
../installAltFixPa k -y
it says it was successful, but no new directory is created in /opt/IBM/db2
Assuming that maybe fixpack 9a updates the existing /opt/IBM/db2/V8.FP9
directory, I ran db2iupdt on the instance (using root), but db2level still
shows the signature for fixpack 9 (not 9a). "DB2 v8.1.0.88", "s050422"
But looking at the file dates on /opt/IBM/db2/V8.FP9/bin it does not appear
any on them got updated even though the install script said it ran
successfully.
I had the same problem with alternate fixpack 6 and 6a. Has anyone
successfully updated to "a" alternate fixpacks from the same level (without
"a") on Linux?
Also, suing the brand new IBM webpage for downloading DB2 fixpacks, it
appears to me to be impossible to download alternate fixpacks unless one
already knows where the FTP site is. 4 2066

Did you uninstall the alternate fixpack. I'm told you can't just install
on top for the AFP.

Because they're both FP9, they won't coexist. You need to uninstall
the existing FP9 alternate fixpack, and then install the new copy.

No mention of that in the readme file installation instructions.
Anyone from IBM know why it is impossible to download alternate fixpacks
from the new download website?

For normal alternate fixpacks (not "a" or "b", etc) you install the
alternate fixpack and it installs the code for each fixpack in a separate
directory on /opt/IBM/db2 (for Linux). Then you update each instance to
point to the alternate fixpack you want, which updates the db2 profile and
home directories to point to the correct binaries.
I have done this many time before, but it does not work when installing 9a
if 9 already installed. This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics |

Hello,
(Note: if there is a FAQ that covers this issue just give me the URL. I
checked python.org's General and Windows FAQ's and didn't see anything.)
I am about to upgrade from Python 2.2 to 2.3. Here are a few questions:
- Do I need to uninstall 2.2 first?
- Are there any paths I should add to my Win 2k PATH environment variable?
- I am running on Windows 2000 and I have several site-packages installed.

Hi Folks,
We are going to start a grand new project, which is DB2v7 FP10a
sitting on AIX4.3.3 on M80 server. Here is my question,
1) According to Fixpack installation guide, I have to install
Fixpack1(Pre-request of Fixpack 3 installation), Fixpack 3(Pre-request
of Fixpack 10a) in order to successful install Fixpack 10a.Question is
do I have to follow this sequence or there is a way jump to fixpack
10a.

Dear ALL,
I had a problem when I restore a db2 V7 EE Fixpack 5 on AIX 4.3.3 to
db2 V8 ESE Fixpack 3 on AIX 5.1.
Once I restored db2 db (PRD) to V8 and tried to connect to DB, I had
the following problem:
$db2 connect to PRD
SQL5035N The database requires migration to the current release.

I was reading the FixPackReadme.txt file in preparation for installing v8.1
Alternate FP7. The prerequisites section says that all DB2 processes must be
stopped and doesn't differentiate between regular an alternate fixpacks. I
was hoping the alternate fixpack would help to avoid downtime. Do you really
need to stop all DB2 process for alternate fixpack installations?

Can Alternate Fixpaks be used with DB2 Connect Enterprise Edition on AIX?
The same regular fixpack can be used on both UDB and Connect.
The website isn't quite clear.

I have opened a PMR for this with IBM, and am not asking for advice from the DB2 DBA community. I am posting this as an FYI that DB2 Health Monitor, even at the latest version of DB2, still can cause huge problems with slow connect times and heavy resource locking in high concurrency / high transaction volume environments. I have an OLTP with 30-90 transactions per second activity, and start of Health Monitor every 2 hours was crashing our...

In version 8.2 ESE we used alternate fixpacks to allow multiple fixpack
levels for different instances, and to allow an instance to be deprecated
back to the previous fixpack (with certain limitations).
In looking at V9.5 install procedures there are no alternate fixpacks. There
is only a db2_install and a installFixPack script (not counting the db2setup
GUI program).
It looks to me like the installFixPack script is used to update...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
