What is the best way to change Extent Size

I would like to perform a redirected restore and was wondering what is
the best way to migrate all the data & strucuture but to modify the
original extent size of the tablespaces. The tablespaces were
originally setup with an inadequate extent size and now we are trying
to have the extent size at least match the RAID5 stripe size.

I would hate to have to restore the DB (redirect) and then move/copy
all the tables to newly created tablespaces. I will need to perform
this against at least 12 (PeopleSoft) databases with thousands of
tables.

Thanks in advance.

It is unlikely that your extent size is less than your stripe size (although
not impossible). Remember that if your stripe size is 64K, then an extent
size of 16 is actually 64K (for a 4K tablespace page size), which is a 1
times the stripe size (this is acceptable because it is a even multiple).

Higher extent sizes (higher multiples) are more important for decision
support systems where there are a lot of tablespace scans, and not so
important for OLTP systems where most access is via an index.

What's better about Ruby than Python? I'm sure there's something. What is it? This is not a troll. I'm language shopping and I want people's answers. I don't know beans about Ruby or have any preconceived ideas about it. I have noticed, however, that every programmer I talk to who's aware of Python is also talking about Ruby. So it seems that Ruby has the potential to compete with and displace Python. I'm curious on what basis it...

What is the *truth* when it comes to configuring Oracle files on an Enterprise Virtual Array like an HP EVA3000 or EVA5000 or an EMC Symmetrix frame. As I Understand It - A Virtual Array is a storage appliance with a large number of disks (say over 50), dual-path controller access and, significantly, a very large disk cache. The cache is supported by front-end and back-end (disk-side) processors and a range of algorithms that aim to...

Oddly enough, I found it difficult, using Google, to find a list of best-of sites based on the quality of their css packages. So I'd ask. Does anyone know of particularly good sites which are in good measure because of their creative and useful css designs? I'm aware of Zen Garden and a few others. So don't bother with those. And I hope I don't get replies from people with a 'tin ear' and no design sense. Good sites. Good pages. That's...

Because when I asked for comments on my site-design (Remember? My site, your opinion!) some of you told me never to change anything on font-sizes! What do you guys think of that: http://www.clagnut.com/blog/348/ I hope that's going to be a good discussion! Michael

Basic question, is this possible? I have managed to crib a javascript function that allows the user to increase or decrease the font size of a page. (see http://www.northamptontoday.co.uk/ViewArticle.aspx?SectionID=317&ArticleID=867063 for example. A+ A- in top right). A div id is used to apply the function to text within that id. My problem: I am working with a large intranet, all of the page

I'm looking for an efficient optimizer on a noisy high-dimensional and costly function. My own GA hack seems to be somewhat stiff and I find me trying too much around with different cooling speeds and other non-systematic screwing ... There are some GA frameworks and recipes around for Python (that one of scipy (scipy.ga?) disapeared?). Which can be recommended? The searching in my use cases is mainly on fixed length parameter vectors...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
