Best way to transfert high volume data between AS400/DB2 to Unix-Sybase

Hi,

what would be the best way to transfert high volume data (100 tables,
500Meg each) between DB2/AS400 to Sybase?

Thanks Etienne.

do a del-ascii export from db2 side
do a bcp import on sybase side

you will have to manually or through scripts, process the data for
things like timestamps, "-" instead of "NULL".

Thank dotyet,

Do you know what kind of other exceptions I would need to check in the
data?

Does most of the datatype are compatible between db2 and sybase? Per
exemple, can varchar in db2 be higher than 255 characters? I know that
in sybase a varchar is limited to 255 chars.

Thanks,
Etienne

Hi, Things like Twisted, medusa, etc.... that claim to be able to support hundreds of concurrent connections because of the async I/O framework they're based on.... can someone give a few examples of some web sites actually using those Python frameworks? Thanks :) --Irmen

I have an ODBC link to DB2 Database. I can see the values of the DB2's tables in Access but not in SQL Server DTS. IN DTS, I connect the Source but when i want to see the values in the Data transformation task, i have this message : HResult of 0x90040e37 (-2147217865) returned. Erreur inattendue. Un résultat d'erreur a été renvoyé sans message d'erreur. Someone have a solution?

I have a asp.net application that will need to create a document/report from data in a database. The user will fill out a form supplying various criteria for parameters. I would like the document/report to then be displayed on screen as well as the option to download in PDF format. I am just wondering which is the best reporting development tool to use between SQL Reporting Services and Crystal Reports. The report will have three...

I have written a graphing engine (very similar to what BigCharts.com offers). Basically, it's an ASPX page that accepts parameters and calls back-end business objects (dlls) to create a graph. When the graph is created as a jpeg, it is returned to the browser as binary data. When it is used at a low volume, it performs great and returns correctly drawn graphs in a timely manner. However when the amount of traffic is increased to a high...

Hi all! I use python for writing terminal applications and I have been bothered by how hard it seems to be to determine the terminal size. What is the best way of doing this? At the end I've included a code snippet from Chuck Blake 'ls' app in python. It seems to do the job just fine on my comp, but regrettably, I'm not sassy enough to wrap my head around the fine grain details on this one. How cross-platform is this? Is there a more...

Hi - I am attempting to write lines to a file at high volume, multiple threads. Here is my scenario: (initial "WriteToFile" object created via a parent multithreaded process, which receives files, can call custom code for each file received - much like BizTalk) 1. Receive multiple files, each file received creates a "WriteToFile" object

I have cross posted this to comp.lang.c++ and to sci.math.num- analysis in the belief that the topic is of interest to some in both groups. I am building my toolkit, in support of my efforts in producing high performance C++ code; code that is provably correct. The issue here is orthogonal to the question of expression templates, which at present seem to me to be relatively simple.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
