I'm running Oracle 8.1.7.4.1 on W2K and have the services for my
oracle instances set to automatically startup and shutdown with the
W2K server. Unfortunately, neither is working. Nothing gets logged
in my alert file for the shutdown or startup, however, the databases
are down and when I manually start them up, the alert log reveals a
crash recovery. I've verified the settings in the registry for
automatic shutdown and startup. I've...

account. But after its installed and after reboot when I check in the

but next to it the start mode does say 'automatic' instead of manual.
so how I get it to start after every reboot ?
Thanks

I have a network server with MySQL on it and I am trying to make
access update the information it has in its linked table on startup or
command. I know nearly nothing about macros or modules. I am
basically wanting to make sure that the data access is displaying is
the most current data on the server.
Thanks.

Hi, I am working on a directory type of site and I got stuck in the following
problem:
when the user clicks on the download link I present a page that sais:
"Contacting download site... If the download does not start in 10 sec. please
click the link below". At this point I would like to attempt to download the
file and send it to the client. One think I managed to do is to call a
"DownloadBridge.aspx" page from the Body's onload event and...

I currently have created a C# program that automatically updates
an SQL database once everyday. It's an application that I manually
start. I want make it so that if the (Windows 2003) server reboots
the program automatically starts up. What's the best method to
do this? Creating a service I guess would be one option????
BTW, I have created other programs that ran on a daily basis by having
them run as a scheduled task job. However I...

Hi Everybody
I still have plenty of databases written in Access 2000 although I
would like to write future databases in Access 2003.
Assuming I have both versions on the same machine, is it possible to
have the correct version of Access start according to whether the .mdb
file is written in 2000 or 2003?
Thanks in a advance.

I'm running a desktop under Win2k sp4. With a Linksys router. I have wireless connectivity to another win2k desktop and a winXP laptop. TCP/IP with NetBIOS activated on all does the trick. I have internet connection on all as well as file sharing. Took me only about 3 weeks of intensive research and troubleshooting to get it all going! ;-)
The problem is that my wireless desktop will not connect automatically on startup. Each time I boot, I...

Has anyone created an elegant way to automate database activation on
instance startup?
I come across a number of client sites that have DB2 installed because
it was sold embedded with another piece of software. The installer
activates automatic utilities, but are surprised when there are no
backups or runstats run at night. They define a window for utilities
off hours, but there are no user connections at that time activate the...

I have been trying to automate certain steps in this database for a company I am working with. I would like to have a query or report run automatically at startup showing all the records that have a due date (the date when people are supposed to pay) of a week from the current date so I can see which orders have a payment due date that is near to come. This date is a field in the orders table. I don´t know if anyone could help me with this, I...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
