Slow odbc connection to AIX DB2

Dear ALL,

I was trying to connect to a remote AIX DB2 database from a Windows
2000 machine in two ways:

1) Use DB2 client in Windows to connect to the cataloged DB

I typed "db2 connect to mydb user myuser using mypassword" in the DB2
command line. The connection is nearly instant.

2) Configured ODBC datasource in Windows

I configured an system ODBC datasource in Windows (Control Panel ->
Administrative Tools -> Data Sources (ODBC)) to point to the remote
database, using "IBM DB2 ODBC Driver". In my own client application, i
clicked connect (which then use this ODBC data source), it requires
more than 1 minute to make the connection. However, subsequent
select/query is nearly instant. It's just only the "connect" requires
significant time.

Any hints?

Thanks.

I have created a system DSN that connects fine. the following code works a treat. I get Connection Successful printed to my browser. <% on error resume next dim adoConn set adoConn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")

When initially loaded, my web application (below) takes ~120000 milliseconds to open its connection. But repeated executions take 0 milliseconds each. But when I wait for approx. 5 minutes and try again, it takes another 120000 milliseconds for Open(). This behavior gets really irritating with the real web application that I'm working on. But the thing I don't understand is, when I make a console app that does the same sort of thing, the...

I am using the MySQL ODBC 3.51 driver to link three relatively small MySQL tables to a Microsoft Access 2003 database. I am finding that the data from the MySQL tables takes a hell of a long time to load making any kind linkage with my Access data virtually useless. I have the MySQL driver setup in as a USER DSN. The MySQL data is sitting out on a server and the Access database is running locally. The network connection is very...

Okay, here is what's happening: I have a reasonably fast laptop (1.4 GHz Mobile M, so comparable to 2.5GHz P4) doing .net development. Running Windows XP pro, SP2 IIS is installed and running fine All SQL Servers I am referring to share a small (10 computers or so) LAN with a 100MB Switch. No other computers on the LAN exhibit this problem.

I've got an access97 reporting mdb that pulls data (77,000 rows) from a sql server table into a local table to run reports if the local table is part of the reporting MDB, the insert statement (16 fields) takes less than 30secs, but because of db-bloat, I moved the local table to a 2nd MDB and per postings, this 2nd MDB is copied into a folder and linked as a 'temp' MDB every time I run my reporting mdb

hello, I've got a big problem ad i'm not able to resolve it. We have a server running oracle 10g version 10.1.0. We usually use access as front end and connect database tables for data extraction. We have been using oracle client 10.1.0.2 with it's odbc for a while without problem. The problem arose when we decided to reconnect all the tables and save password. Some query became suddenly very slow. Then I've discovered that the tables...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
