Originally installed WSE on a Windows XP machine to work on a project
in development in my office. I have Developer's Edition.
Also installed (downloaded, rather than using Developer's Edition)
Personal Edition on another machine at home to work on the same
project there. Seems that this download had a limited license which
has expired.
Now, I need to install WSE on the home machine (rather than PE) for
testing. This is not allowed, as there is a license violation due to
the expired PE.
How to get my machine to accept WSE from my Developer's Edition? I
already uninstalled the PE, and removed references to it from the
registry. I assume that DB2 wrote to the boot tracks, and I can't
fool with that.

I guess the question is, if you have a valid license for WSE, you should
be able to install the license with License Center. Once you've
exhausted your trial period for DB2, you didn't expect to be able to
continue to use it?

Ian, Thanks for responding.
Point was that I installed a downloaded Personal Edition with limited
license (stupidly), although I have Developer's Edition with unlimited
license. When the limited license expired, I could not install the
unlimited license.
Anyway . . . it's working now.

Hi
I know, this might be the wrong place for such a question, but maybe
you can redirect me to the right place to post.
I wrote a small software under the GNU General Public License and put
it on freshmeat.net for download. Now, someone likes this software and
wants it to integrate into his own software as a module. This software
is for sale. Is there a meaningfull solution about this issue? I just
would like to give a "common" answer...

Hi,
Our company was looking for contract programmer to develop an
internet/intranet application. We were approached by a freelancer who
have quite a lot experience and his resume was impressive. But he did
mention that if we download php & mysql and use the application
developed within our company, we should be fine and there will not be
any legal issues. While some of the folks see this as a low cost
solution, others are concerned...

I'd like to formalise slightly the license I release my projects
under. At the moment it's 'free to use, modify, distribute and
relicense'. This is basically fine as I don't want t oprevent people
using my work in commercial settings - but I would like to retain the
right to be identified as the author. I'd also like to prevent people
selling derivative works where my stuff forms the substantial part of
the poduct.
I'd prefer to use an...

Hi there,
I just made my own license provider (at last!) that uses signed XML
license files. When the license provider gets the license it does the
following,
*At runtime
1) Gets the signed XML license file from the calling assemblys resources
2) Gets the public RSA key from the calling assemblys resources

The PHP license states the following:
4. Products derived from this software may not be called "PHP", nor
may "PHP" appear in their name, without prior written permission
from group@php.net. You may indicate that your software works in
conjunction with PHP by saying "Foo for PHP" instead of calling
it "PHP Foo" or "phpfoo"
As the author of something released under the PHP license, can I, as I
see fit, just grant permission to an...

Hi. I work for a small company (actually in process of forming)
interested in embedding or extending python as part of our commercial
non-open-source product. We have legal counsel, but are interested in
the spirit as well as the letter of the law. Not much seems to have
been written about the python license since version 2, so pointers to
more recent discussions or contacts are appreciated. If this is not
the right place to ask these...

Hi hi everyone.
We have upgraded our DB2 LUW 8.2.1 which was directly installed from our
DB2 CD's to DB2 LUW 8.2.6 (FP13). (system: HP DL385 (AMD64), single
socket, dual core. 8GB memory. SLES 10. NetApp FAS250 storage array).
This went quite well, but it rendered our permanent (legal) DB2 license
invalid, and I can see of no way to get our environment up and running
with FP13 installed.

I know I've seen this discussed but can't seem to find the right search
term. Is a online retailer using -say zen cart or some other open
source store front required to have php or mysql license?
Is it required of the host? Say they have it on their server?
The legalease is less than reader friendly for my 'reading level'...
Thanks!

You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
