Hi, This is probably my 7th post of the day. not spamming, just want to get the questions out, so that I can find the answers and post them back or some good soul can help me out. Right now I am using DB2 connect version 7.2 to connect to db2 version 7.1.1 on os390/zos. Could I use a third party driver to do this? What would you recommend and is connecting to db2 on the mainframe a lot different than connecting to db2 on the pc?

Hi All; On DB2 (OS390) v7.1 is there any reason to avoid the use of varchar() datatype for columns less than 50 bytes in length? Current DBA standard is to only use varchar when length of character field exceeds 50 and I'm trying to determine if this makes sense. I have a star schema with MANY character columns in the dimensions that are 25-40 bytes in length and it seems to me that I'd potentially save a great deal of DASD by defining...

I have recently been looking on dice.com (and other sites) and noticed a striking difference in the number of listings for DB2 DBAs for the OS390 platform. Most of the listings are AIX. Anyone else notice this? Also, is DB2 on OS390 dying? -- ML

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
