DB2 8.2 (FP7 upgrade)

Jep

I have got major problems after upgrading to 'Stinger'.

The CPU now runs approx. 70% - even when nothing is active.
It is the process 'db2dasstm.exe' that uses the most of it.

On startup of db2cc I got some *226.dll problems. This should relate
to some unicode thing? I run the EN version and used the 'setup /i EN'
when upgrading.

My Task Center gives me a SQL1476N when I try to connect.

- - - -

And even better, my local support surgest I uninstall/reinstall DB2.
The same advice I got earlyer this year for other reasons.
Need some help - even a job offer :-)

There must be some other solution??

Hello:

One thing to try in an attempt to fix the Task Center is to recreate the
Tools Catalog DB. This possibly will correct part of your problem. However,
a few files on your machine seem to be missing. I am not sure why. This
ultimately may be causing many of your issues. It may be possible to debug
the problem (will need db2trc and the install.log file) however likely the
quickest and perhaps ultimate solution will be to do a complete uninstall
and then a reinstall of FP7. This is the best way to ensure the files are
updated correctly. Note after reinstalling you need to recreate your tools
catalog db.

Do you know if the files that db2cc is complaining about are actually on
your machine somewhere and db2cc just can not locate them?

FP7 can't be uninstalled/reinstalled.
It will be the hole DB2 UDB. I'm I right??

I thought this might be the answer. And hate it.
But I'm very shocked, that it is possible to end up here, because of a
FicPack update.

Do you know if the files that db2cc is complaining about are actually on

I checked the server with the Explorer Search function without finding
them, and had a friend send them to me.

Do you Admins really mean that it is normal procedure having to
totally rebuild a server at the cost of a fixpack. Is this todays
standard level of IBM software.

And I fully expected this to be response and I do appreciated your
frustration. This is definitely surprising to me as well. It is not easily
explain what may be happening. Please do keep in mind that my suggestion of
reinstalling/installing may not be the only option. I believe it is just the
fastest solution to correct your issue. However I can understand if that is
not possible to do. In order to track down exactly what the problems are in
the existing installation we would first need to look at the install log
files and db2trc information.

Maybe a longshot but ...

I had very similar symptoms with a particular combination
of JDK & Linux version once upon a time.

Maybe check your JDK settings?

just a thought.

Any ideas on why drop and create alias statements would take a long time? We recently went through an upgrade of our production database, which included alter statements to table structures, create tables, drop tables, and data inserts, deletes, and updates. Also, we dropped and recreated all the alias's we had on the tables and views to those tables. We are on UDB 7.2, FP7, on AIX. Everything took about the same time as in our...

Dear all, What will be the difference between the recent release of DB2 UDB V8.1 FP7 and the announced 8.2 for GA on Sept.17 ? It should be the same or am I mistaken ? I don't like the APARLIST in text mode. You have centralized to 1 list, but why not centralize and keep the 2 formats, txt and html ? Best regards,

Dear all, FP1 to FP6 where approximately 300 Mb. FP7 is 687 Mb !!! I wonder why, in that case, you don't allow a full image or fixpack application on Linux, depending on wheter ESE is or is not present. Can't you do the same as for Windows ?

I was reading the FixPackReadme.txt file in preparation for installing v8.1 Alternate FP7. The prerequisites section says that all DB2 processes must be stopped and doesn't differentiate between regular an alternate fixpacks. I was hoping the alternate fixpack would help to avoid downtime. Do you really need to stop all DB2 process for alternate fixpack installations? -- Carl Draus

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
