Hy!
We got the same datamodell on Solaris and on WindowsXP. But there is a mojor
difference in the Performance. The database on Windows is much faster than
the one on Solaris although the Solaris machine is a dual processor. The
initialization parameters are also correct, I hope so (like db_block_size
rtc.). Does anyone have the same problem or know what can be the reason of
this performance lack?

Hi everybody,
currently we use DB2 7.1 on several Solaris machines. Now we are
planning, to migrate to SUSE Linux (newest version).
I wonder, if we can keep our DB2 version 7.1, or if we need to upgrade
to version 8. How are your experiences running DB2 in version 7.1 on Linux.
How difficult is the migration from Solaris to Linux concerning DB2? Are
there some pitfalls or can I simply install the DB2, create my database
(tables and...

Does anyone have any recommendations for setting kernel.shmmax and/or
some of the other kernel parms that affect DB2, on a system that has
24-32GB of RAM available?
I am also looking for a good resouce that describes what these parms
really control.
I want DB2 to take advantage of the large amount of RAM. These
machines will have an average of 300-500 connections.
The databases are about 300GB.

Hi,
Is it worth to use 64-bit DB2 instances on a 32-bit kernel, in terms of:
- performance
- configuration (go beyond the 256 Mb segment for private mem, 1.75 Gb for
Bufferpools)
- other ?
I've seen NIS is not supported, downlevel (64 to 32 bit ?) is not supported

New installation of DB2 ESE 8.1 and Fixpak 9a on
Solaris 8.2, on FUJITSU 450 server(sparc), 64 bit mode, and 64-bit
instance.
db2start fails (after approx 60 seconds) with SQL1042C (unexpected
system error occurred), so the instance does not start.
db2diag.log shows a timeout error. sqloWaitIPCWaitPost.
ENOMSG(35) no message of desired type.

So, I download the latest "stable" tar for perl (5.8.7) and try to compile
it on the Solaris 8 (SPARC) box that I administrate. I try all sorts of
different switches, but I can't get it to compile. I need it to be
compiled with threads.
Anyone have any wisdom on how best to do this?
Here's a transcript of my latest attempt. It's long; you might want to
skip to the bottom, where I try "make" and the fatal errors start
happening.

Hi all,
Do you know how to change kernel parameters on Solaris 10 for DB2?
I just installed DB2 ESE v8.2 on a new Solaris 10 box. But during the
installation, it asks for changing the kernel parameter like this:
DBI1030E Kernel parameter MSGMNB must be set to 65535.
I know it can be changed on the /etc/system for Solaris 9, but no idea

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
