DB2 Increasing the pagesize of an SMS tablespace

Hi There,

I get SQL0670N when altering a table to add an extra colum.

Can an SMS tablespace be changed to have a larger page size ?

Many thanks,
Nigel Robbins

Yes. DB2 supports 4K, 8K, 16K and 32K page sizes.

However, you cannot change the page sizes of tablespaces on-the-fly -- you
will have to export your data, drop all objects that exist in the
tablespace, create new tablespaces with a larger page size, recreate all
objects in the new tablespace, and the import your data.

I have a question concerning the extents from a database. The database stops occasionaly with an ORA-01632 error. Increasing the max_extent from the individual index, named in the error is keeping things going, but there should be a way solving this in a more structural manner. There is plenty of (table)space on the system. When I query dba_tablespaces for our tablespace it gives a next_extent=40969 and a max_extent=2048 and a...

I've a table which has a number & a blob column, both of which are NOT NULL type. This table is composite partitioned using range & hash on the same column. Each partition is sub partitioned into two. Now if I try to move the partitions to a different tablespace I get an oracle error sayiing that ERROR: ORA_14257 cannot move partition other than a Range or Hash partition Now is there any other way to move the partition to another

Hi, I am having a strange problem with the storage parameters in Oracle 9.2.0.1 database. I create a tablespace with some default storage parameters but when i am adding a table to the tablespace i can not override the NEXT statement? No matter what i set the NEXT storage parameters to, it is always the same as the tablespace default, the INITIAL is overriden just fine. I have included my script below, can someone please point out what...

just got out of a "class" on EXPLAIN, from a 390/v6 maven. was told that ACCESSTYPE = 'R' in the plan_table meant a TableSpace scan. hmmmm. next step up (or down, depending on your outlook) wasn't a Table Scan. thought this might be a MainFrame thing; but a look at DB2Info on my UDB 7.2 server showed the same thing. this is truly puzzling. is there an explanation of EXPLAIN which describes how to get a Table Scan???? or are we...

I have a table whose rowsize is nearing 4005 bytes and I want to increase the length of one column. I know I have two ways to do this. I can either increase the tablespace pagesize from 4K to 8K, or change the column from being a varchar to longvarchar. Which is better(performance wise)? Also is it true that you cannot change the page sizes of tablespaces on-the-fly -- you will have to export your data, drop all objects that exist in...

I installed Postgres 7.4.1 on a dual processor G5 running Mac OS 10.3.2. I'm trying to increase the max_connections to 300 and running into some trouble. If anyone could shed some light, I'd greatly appreciate it. Here's part of my postgresql.conf: # - Connection Settings - tcpip_socket = true max_connections = 300

DB2 V8.2 FP10 on Windows I tested the following HADR scenario: - a new tablespace on a new filesytem is created on the primary System - the replay on standby fails because of lacking permissions - the tablespace is backed up on the primary system - tables are created in the new tablespace and data is inserted (and a couple of logs are archived) - Takeover is done by the standby

hi all, i was working on DB2 and came across an issue. i.e. can a tablespace be rollforwarded to POINT-IN-TIME? the scenario is as follows: i created a data base and a tablespace in it. i have enabled archival logging (enabled userexit and logretain) and changed log path to a different location. as the log path and logging method was changed, the database was in backup pending state. so, i took a complete offline backup of the

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
