Thanks for the tip - hadn't thought about that. However, I discovered
the true culprit - the incorrect python write class was being used
(writelines vs write) which gave it a 100x performance penalty.

Performance testing this will have to wait.

Anyone know a good way to embed python within python? Now before you tell me that's silly, let me explain what I'd like to do. I'd like to allow user-defined scriptable objects. I'd like to give them access to modify pieces of my classes. I'd like to disallow access to pretty much the rest of the modules.

I accidentally sent this to webmaster@python.org, so this could be a duplicate if "webmaster" forwards it to this list. :{ Hi, there. Thanks for any help that can be offered. I've been working with Python for a year or more now, but only doing simple extending in C/C++. I'm now attempting some embedding and several questions have come to mind. BTW - I'm running Windows 2000 with Python23 and VisualC++ developers

Greetings, I am new to python and wish to embed python in an 3D graphics application to provide application automation. The high level goal is to be able to drive my app from a script for batch job like behavior rather than via the GUI (ie. I would like to run a script and see those changes reflected in the GUI as if the user had clicked buttons, etc.) The application is written in C++ and uses QT for the GUI. I have read the python...

I have a number of self-composed songs in mp3 format which are linked to their individual titles with <a href... The problem with this coding is that the songs open in a new window containing the media player transport control. I've tried embedding, but this is not suitable for multiple files. Ideally, I'd like visitors to have control over the playing of the songs with their media player embedded on the same page. I'm brainstorming here,...

Is there any way that a literal can be used for a field value in the load statement? The context is fixed-length record formats, db2 8.1 ese, aix 5.1. I'm performing warehouse and mart loads within korn shell and python - and everything's been working great - but now I want to add a batch identifier to all the rows in each load. This identifier is incremented for each load, but every row in a load file gets the same value.

Apology, if this is OT. (Please kindly refer me eventually to another group.) With VC++ I can embed asm statements in a function e.g. as follows: __asm { ........ je lab

I wrote up a quick little set of tests, I was acutally comparing ways of doing "case" behavior just to get some performance information. Now two of my test cases had almost identical results which was not at all what I expected. Ultimately I realized I don't really know how literals are treated within the interpreter. The two implementations I was looking at were: class caseFunction(object): def __init__(self):

Hi, while writing some LaTeX preprocessing code, I stumbled into this problem: (I have a -*- coding: utf-8 -*- line, obviously) s = ur"añado $\uparrow$" Which gave an error because the \u escape is interpreted in raw unicode strings, too. So I found that the only way to solve this is to write:

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
