From the debugger's readme:
3.1 Uninstalling on Windows
---------------------------
The Add/Remove Programs utility in the Control Panel will not
uninstall only the Distributed Debugger while keeping the parent
product. On the Windows platform, the Debugger can only be uninstalled
by uninstalling the parent product.
VisualAge(R) for Java, Version 3.0 only.
If you installed the Distributed Debugger along with this product, you
must uninstall the Debugger BEFORE attempting to uninstall the
product. If you uninstalled VisualAge for Java, version 3.0 without
removing the Debugger first, you can still uninstall the Debugger by
manually deleting the registry key that contains the name of the
product: HKEY_LOCAL_MACH INE\SOFTWARE\IB M\IBM Distributed
Debugger\Curren tVersion\Instal l\ParentProduct s\VisualAge for Java
for Windows.
NOTE: Any deletions from the Windows registry other than those
identified may render your system unstable or unusable.
Removing installed beta versions of the Distributed Debugger:
The following procedures are provided to allow you to remove the Debugger
from your system by manually editing the Windows registry.
To remove the IBM Distributed Debugger:
1. Run regedit.exe
2. Backup your registry file by exporting your registry file.
3. Go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACH INE\SOFTWARE\IB M\IBM Distributed
Debugger\Curent Version\Install
4. The "RefCount" entry indicates the number of Debugger instances on
the system. Decrement the "RefCount" value data by 1.
5. Click the Uninstaller icon of the newer (non-beta) version of
the Debugger. This should uninstall the icons and files (if there
are no other IBM products installed on your machine that make use
of the IBM Distributed Debugger).
6. If the "RefCount" value data is equal to one, remove the following
registry key, if it exists:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACH INE\SOFTWARE\IB M\IBM Distributed Debugger
If the "RefCount" value is less than one, set it to one and
re-try the uninstall.
The uninstall process is complete if the RefCount entry is not equal
to one.
To reinstall the IBM Distributed Debugger, use the product CD to
install it with the parent product.

Is there any way to install the IBM Distributed Debugger V9.2 on Windows
XP without first uninstalling DB2?
I installed the IBM Distributed Debugger V9.2 on my Windows XP box in the
hopes of debugging a Java stored procedure. Well, I never got the debugger
to work despite my best efforts - see posts earlier this week - so now I'd
like to uninstall the debugger.
I looked into this but the README says:

Is this assuming that DB2 V7.2 is the "parent product"? Or is it possible
that I don't have a "parent product" in the sense that they mean? DB2 V7.2
was installed long before the Distributed Debugger so I'm truly hoping
that I can simply uninstall the debugger via Add/Remove programs in Windows.
However, there is a dire warning that says:
"NOTE: Any deletions from the Windows registry other than those
identified may render your system unstable or unusable."
So, am I safe to use Add/Remove Programs to remove the Distributed
Debugger *WITHOUT* harming DB2?
If not, what *can* I do to remove the Distributed Debugger?
The README describes a process that is intended for betas of the
Distributed Debugger. Would it be safe to use that in my situation?
If yes, how do I do step 5, which is clicking on the "uninstalle r" icon of
the newer version of the Debugger? I don't have any icons for the Debugger
in my system under Start/All Programs and there is no icon for it on my
desktop. The only way I know to launch the Debugger is via:
idebug -qdaemon -quiport=8000,80 01
but that doesn't produce a GUI with an uninstall icon.
I'd really like to remove the Debugger - my DB2 was working fine until I
installed the &*^%$ debugger - but I'm utterly at a loss to figure out
how.
