FixPak Disk Space

I am trying to instal FixPak 4 for V8 on XP. I kept getting an error. During
the install, I kept getting the "low disk space on c:" message.

My C; drive has 1.4 GB of free space. I can't believe that installing a
fixpak (temp files and all) would take up over aGB of space - but it is!!!

How can I get this installed? All the programs that are on my machine need
to be there, so there's not the option of deleting stuff or removing
programs. Is there some way to put the package to a different drive with
more space?

Really need help on thins one.
Thanks!

Try compressing the disk.

You could also try adding a second disk and either spanning C: over both
drives, or mount the second disk at an obvious place (e.g. c:\program files)
after copying everything over.

If you have something like Norton Ghost, you could also ghost the drive onto
a temporarily installed second drive, replace the original drive with a
bigger one, restore from the ghost and remove the temporary drive.

Dont know if it helps but, do you have another drive with more
avalible space? If so you can try to temporarely point tmp (or is it
temp?) there and see if that helps.

If its possible, i would recommend you remove DB2 and do DB2's
installation using DB2 Fixpack4, and after that put the license file
on DB2 license file directory to work fine (the license file is in the
DB2 install CD).

There is a Windows feature that saves all files before applying
patches to do rollback of an installation if anything goes wrong. And
this use a lot of disk space

It's also o good thing to give a look at the current open APARs to see
if any affects you.

Cheers

Had the same problem. Called IBM, but got tired of trying to explain
this to level 1 support.

Sooo, I used WinZIP to unzip the fixpak's exe to drive d:. Then the
install went smooth.

Hello,

inasmuch as this wasn't a problem before 8.1.4 I think we are all
trying to doctor with the symptoms instead of treating the disease. A
fix pack for a product with the features of a product such as DB2
Connect which requires over 1 GB space to install is just not
industrial-strength, IMHO. Not to mention the install time.
