I am trying to copy data from one table to another, and in the process
add a sequence number to copied rows. I have looked at the IDENTITY
function when creating tables, and essentially this is the behavior I
am trying to duplicate.
However, my question is if I can do this with the SELECT INTO
statement as well. I have tried a few variations and it does not seem
to work:
SELECT seq_number = identity(10),

I have the following query that has been working so far. I modified
it slightly to work from another source table (new_products). Now,
SQL Server complains that the identity is inherited already:
"Cannot add identity column, using the SELECT INTO statement, to table
'dbo.my_products', which already has column 'id' that inherits the
identity property."
Any suggestions for a work aorund?

Hello all -
I am trying to Insert a new record to an Access 2002 database.
Following the insert, I need to obtain the primary key of the inserted
row (person_ID) which is an Autonumber field. I am using the
following code (obtained from MSDN) to do this, but for some reason a
value of 0 is returned. Why is 0 returned????
Dim newID As Integer = 0

Greetings,
I am in need of getting "Auto Generated Number" of Primary Key from
master table (I am, using Access) when I insert a row through ADO.NET
from VB.NET. Based on this ID, I want to generate new rows in child
tables.
When I was looking on the net to get some Idea, I found there is a
feature SELECT @@IDENTITY to get "Auto Generated Number". But, I could
not find clear details about this feature.

Dear MSSQL experts,
I use MSSQL 2000 and encountered a strange problem wqhile I tried to
use a select into statement .
If I perform the command command below I get only one dataset which has
the described properties.
If I use the same statement in a select into statement (see the second
select) I get several datasets with the described properties like I
didn't use distinct

I am using VS 2005 with a formview control trying to insert a record
to my access db. The data is submitted to the main table no problem,
but I need to carry the catID to the bridge table CatalogImage where
imgID also needs to be placed.
Below is my code behind to carry the catID using the Select @@Identity
and insert imgID to the bridge table.
No data is being entered into the bridge table.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
