UK DB2 UDB Users Group (LUW and z/OS)

Our next meeting will take place shortly and the "official"
announcement is attached below. If you would like more information about
our group then don't hesitate to drop me a line on te*****@scotdb. com.

We have tried to put together an interesting agenda which will give a
useful day to both LUW and z/OS users.

While traditionally our group has been "mainframe oriented", over the last
year or so we have managed to build up a good LUW contingent. My role is
specifically to organize and deliver the DB2 for LUW thread. With this in
mind, I'd be interested in hearing from as many DB2 for LUW users as
possible in our "catchment area" (UK and Ireland mainly, but we welcome
visitors from elsewhere too if you are able to join us).

Phil Nelson

===== START OF OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT =====

Dear Fellow DB2ers,

Our next meeting will be held at IBM Southbank in London on Thursday

this represents very good value for the education and experience that you
can gain.

I have a few general questions. I am working on a new database to be used within my company. I would like to give a couple of people, particularly HR, the ability to add and delete Access users, and add/remove them to groups, so as people join and leave the company, they can be added/removed as database users at that time. However, I don't want them to have to do it through the standard Access users/groups interface, and I don't want...

Hi All, I'm completely green to DB2, so please pardon my ignorance if this is an extremely easy question. I'm converting some queries in our application and it's choking on the Group-By clause. Here's the query (part of it): SELECT a.org_lc || b.oros_rsrc || 'M' as ref_no, b.activity_desc,

Hello, Quoting http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/db2luw/v9r5/topic/ com.ibm.db2.luw.sql.ref.doc/doc/r0000935.html : Group privileges are not considered for any table or view specified in the CREATE VIEW statement. I discovered this today because a user complained that she couldn't create a simple view referring to a table to which she had all privileges.

DB2 LUW 8.1 fixpak 14 Red Hat EL AS 4.4 I'm trying to diagnose some nocturnal CPU pressure, and am trying to understand the dynamic statement cache as it applies to LUW. The only doc/redbooks I am finding are for Z/OS, which I am completely ignorant of. I am using only Java and JDBC in my applications. No static SQL.

I'm trying to read up on the possibility to migrate a db2 V9.5 server to 64 bit, and continue running 32 bit application servers (via db2 runtime client, or otherwise). Does anyone have links to this kind of information? I've google around a bit, and searched the db2 docs without much success so far? Is it at all possible, what restrictions apply for such a setup, etc is the kind of questions I would like to find info about. Thanx in...

You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
