Hi, i have been trying to install PEAR PHP package on my windows XP
system but i am having some problems.
I am running PHP 5.0.0, with Apache 2.0.50, and i am using the
go-pear.php install script to install PEAR.
It installs ok, but when i click on the pear installer link (which is
installed in c:\www\pear\index.php), all the links are strange, they
seem to have additional quotes and slashes in, for example:

I have a windows service applicat written in VB.net.
Everything works fine if I install it by using
InstallUtil.exe in Command Propt window on both
development and target machine. But If I install it by
using 'Install' in VS.net IDE (right click on setup
project, get a popup menu, click on Install) or run
setup.exe in deubg folder under setup project, I got

I dont know if this is the correct newsgroup to post questions on Windows
Service.
I am trying to install and uninstall a Windows Service programmatically.
As far as I know, there isnt a class in .NET FCL which supports doing that.
The ServiceController class starts/stops an installed service but doesnt
install a service. Is there a way to install/uninstall a service
programmatically (not using the Installer) ?

We've been creating "silent install" packages using visual studio 2003
and vb.net for quite some time now by simply deleting all of the
window dialog "forms" in the User Interface section of our
installation package.
Up til now, that has worked well: an administrator logged into a
server who installs our package would perform an automatic "Everyone"
install, while others would end up performing an automatic "Just Me"
type of install.

I'm attempting to do a silent install of NetSearch Extender (NSE) on a
Windows 64bit machine and it is not creating the Windows service.
If I run the GUI install in record mode (setup.exe -r) it does create the
service. If I then, uninstall NSE and attempt a silent install using the
setup.iss file created during the GUI record install it does not create the
service.
Anyone else seen this?

After having worked with Apache/MySQL/PHP for a year or so under Linux I
need, purely for convenience, to set up a parallel platform under Windows.
Unfortunately, since I last did this (using Windows XP Pro) I've moved
on to Windows Vista (Home Premium). MySQL and Apache2 have both
installed satisfactorily, but I'm having problems with PHP5.

I had a failed install of WAMP on my Windows 7 machine. After cleaning out everything I could find I tried an install of IIS, PHP, and MySQL through the windows WEB PI. The install fails with a message that the password I am trying to install for MySQL doesn't match. I think there is a file lurking somewhere from the failed install that I didn't get. Any ideas what I should look for?
