ridefinire bool

Ciao a tutti,

una domanda da incompetente come al solito.

Ho un codice scritto da altra gente che in vari punti esegue operazioni
considerando che un bool occupi quanto un char.
Il mio problema è che con il gcc sul mac che devo usare io un bool
occupa come un int e non come un char.
Mi chiedevo se fosse possibile "ridefinire" il tipo bool in modo che
occupi come un char o se dovrò necessariamente mettere mano all'interno
del codice per aggiustare le varie cose.
