Re: Problem with recursive make.

Hi,
And why did you pick this group, out of all possible groups, to ask this
question? After all, it does not have anything to do with C++, nor does
it have anything to do with Ford cars either, but I somehow suspect that
you did not ask in alt.autos.ford.
I got the below paper and found the problems with which recursive make
have. I guess FreeBSD use recursive make. Can any one comment on it
and please clear my doubts why we use recursive make.
Because recursive make is easy to do and understand and once someone had
done it everyone else thought that it was the way to go?

I get your point, but I think programmers in general might just be the
best place to discuss pizza :)

Hello, I am using PHP 5.0.4 with Apache 2, on WinXP Pro. This behavior appears to be fundamental however, and should not be affected by platform. It would seem that there is some kind of bug in the process that creates the reference when it is being assigned to an array element within itself. If it is already referenced, it just assigns the existing reference and avoids the problem.

Something really strange is happening to me (sometimes). I'm using Python 2.3.2 on NT 4.0 as well as win32all-157, adodbapi and db_row. During a recursive call to a method, it seems Python messes up its variable bindings once in a while. Suddenly, one of several local variables gets rebound to the object it was bound to one step up in the recursion. The relevant part of the code looks like this with print statements

because in linked list each node contains only one digit like curr->nodevalue_1= 0 curr->nodevalue_2=1 sum->nodevalue = curr->nodevalue_1 + curr->nodevalue_2 so when the number go up to >10 or >100 and the linked list need another node (I can add the node to the front ) but how can do the sum ? ex: 89+144 = 233

Hi, I wonder if anybody can comment if what I see is normal in FW 1.1 and how to avoid this. I have .Net assembly, which creates literally thousands of temporary strings and other objects when running. Usually it is something like { string s=some value; some local processing here

Hello, I've got a situation in which the number of (valid) recursive calls I make will cause stack overflow. I can use getrlimit (and setrlimit) to test (and set) my current stack size. However, it is not as straightforward to determine the base address for my stack space. The approach I have taken is to save the address of an automatic variable in main( ), and assume this is a fairly good indicator of my base address. Then, I can...

I am trying to write a recursive version of Power(x,n) that works by breaking n down into halves(where half of n=n/2), squaring Power(x,n/2), and multiplying by x again if n was odd, and to find a suitable base case to stop the recursion. Can someone give me an example of this? Thanks!

I have an application that I want to use for copying files. My goal is to copy a files, if a file is in use or not accessible because of security reasons I want to make note of that file then continue with the file copy process. For some reason when my app is copying the C:\Windows\System32\Config folder it will fail on the first non-accessible file then ends the copy process. It only seems to happen on this folder (folder contains...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
