Hello, ... I am John McCormick (Systems Programmer ) and I am currently
working on a python program which will connect (user) specified inputs
and connect them to (user) selected outputs (like screen or
video/audio-recording devices) and would like to know if there's a
technique to "test" or "sense" if the desired output device is busy
without interrupting the output device while checking to see if it's
busy... ?? If, perhaps, python does...

I was wondering if there is any way for me to read the device manager in my
C# program? I have a program that crashes when some third party hardware is
not installed or is set to the wrong port and I could solve that problem if
I could read a couple entries from the registry.
Thanks in advance,
~Logan

I am writing a C# app that needs to periodically poll for cdroms and usb
storage device insertions. I've looked at the WMI functions but haven't
found anything all that useful. The closest is Win32_DiskDrive, but it
doesn't seem to return any information on cdrom devices. I suspect there
might be a Win32 API call, but I haven't found any info yet using Google. Is
there a way to achieve this in C#?

I want to check if a USB device is availble on a system. Is this possible?
I see it in the Device Manager, so I think it must be possible "somehow" :)

I have recently downloaded Service Pack 2. My Operating System is MS Windows
XP, Home Edition, Version 2002 (now SP2). I am getting an error saying,
"There are no audio output devices currently installed on your machine". Is
there a fix for this or something that failed to download when I updated my
machine to SP2? Please help.

I have recently installed my windows XP, the process went smoothly, but I had
encounterd some drivers issues after the installation.
I managed to solve the ethernet adapter driver issue, but I couldn't solve
the audio device problem.
I have tried many programs to detect which audio device I have, and using
this tool : DriverGuide ToolKit, I identified it as realtek audio device.
(I have an Intel motherboard)

In my application that does some audio-related stuff, I constantly receive WM_DEVICECHANGE - DBT_DEVICEARRIVAL from the Vista Business OS, although there is no actual device arrivals nor removals. I think somewhere in the code or some other application could be adding some virtual devices on the ports, so I reckon that kicks off these events.
I think what I should do is to try to find a way to distinguish virtual device notifications than...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
