Numerical Evaluation of the 2F1 hypergeometric function for largeand complex value

Hi,

i tried to evaluate the 2F1(a,b,c,z)
hypergeometric function for a=1, b=2-0.1i,
c=2.5-0.01i and z=-5e8. I've used the numerical
recipes routine but this routine couldn't act with
this large value of z. Does someone know a C or
C++ routine, which can act with complex b, c and
large values of z.

Thanks in advance

Questions of this nature are better asked on news:sci.math.n um-
analysis.
This one is so popular it ought to be a FAQ.

I have posted code for this before, and I recall that it was
surprisingly simple.
Can't find the code right now, though.

Hi all, this post contains at the end a handy module that I've used quite often when I wanted to analyse the occasional complex expression and how it was to be evaluated. The function analyse_expression is called with a single string argument containing an expression. Names are allowed (actually, preferred over numbers ;-), since the function eval's in a protected dictionary, where names are generated as needed.

Here's my problem, and hopefully someone can help me figure out if there is a good way to do this. I am writing a program that allows the user to enter an equation in a text field using pre-existing variables. They then enter numerical values for these variables, or can tell the program to randomize the values used within a certain bounds. My problem is taking in this equation they have written in the text field and converting it into...

This post contains one question and one proposal. A. May I know why order of evaluation of arguments is not specified in C/C++? I asked a question in comp.lang.c++ for the following possibility and because the languages do not specify the order of evaluation, doing so was an error. int B::f ( int i, int j = i + 1 ) { // j defaults to i + 1

Hi, I'm wondering if there is a function written in C that computes the inverse hypergeometric distribution (i.e., not the density function, but the cumulative distribution) that's been written by anyone? If it's in some online resource, please give me its URL; if it's in print, plese give me the title of the book and/or where it is in the book. Thanks in advance.

Consider the following code. #include <stdio.h> int main() { int i =1; printf("%d ,%d ,%d\n",i,++i,i++); return 0; }

Hi to all, I need to calculate the hpergeometric distribution: choose(r, x) * choose(b, n-x) p(x; r,b,n) = ----------------------------- choose(r+b, n) choose(r,x) is the binomial coefficient I use the factorial to calculate the above formula but since I am using large numbers, the result of choose(a,b) (ie: the binomial coefficient)

Hi All, A coworker and I have been debating the 'correct' expectation of evaluation for the phrase a = b = c. Two different versions of GCC ended up compiling this as b = c; a = b and the other ended up compiling it as a = c; b = c. (Both with no optimizations enabled). How did we notice you may ask? Well, in our case 'b' was a memory mapped register that only has a select number of writable bits. He claims it has been a 'C...

Hello, I have just joined and this is my first post. I have never been able to resolve the issue of order of evaluation in C/C++ and the related issue of precedence of operators, use of parentheses. 1) "The order of evaluation of subexpressions is determined by the precedence and grouping of operators."

Hi, this might be of interest for people who are look for practical information on doing real-time signal processing, possibly using multiple CPUs, and wonder whether it's possible to use Python for audio-type worst case latencies (around 25 ms). I've done that in my PhD work, both with real-time requirements on dual-CPU

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
